POSITION ROLE

At Pathway Healthcare, each Psychiatrist plays an integral role in Pathway’s mission “To Help People.” The Psychiatrist’s role includes providing care to patients in a non-judgmental and supportive manner that encourages the patient to continue treatment. The psychiatrist must also role model appropriate behaviors to ensure the office’s environment is supportive and contributes to patient wellness. Full-time or Part-time available.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

• Complete patient assessments, diagnose, and provide treatment to individuals with mental health conditions including complex addiction and substance abuse related issues.
• Orders, interprets, and evaluates diagnostic and therapeutic tests relative to patient’s needs. Subsequently interprets the results from these tests to make diagnoses and build treatment plans.
• Provide education regarding illness and prognosis to patients and provide related education to the patient to help the individual meet their care goals.
• Complete full and appropriate documentation in the electronic medical record.
• Prescribe appropriate pharmacologic, non-pharmacologic, and psychotropic medications to manage wellness.
• Educate and counsel patients regarding medication compliance and the importance of participating in counseling.
• Conduct patient follow-up visits regarding patients' progress with medication and/or treatment and to monitor the effectiveness of interventions. Make adjustments to treatment plans as needed.
• Provide leadership to and work with an interdisciplinary team of professionals to provide the best care for patients needing both medical and behavioral health services.
• Provide feedback and education to staff regarding addictions treatment best practices.
• Contribute to fostering an office environment in which patients feel comfortable discussing and being treated for addictions disease.
• Act as collaborative physician to one or more Nurse Practitioners.
• Contribute to increasing the access people have to the care Pathway Healthcare provides by visiting potential referral sources and educating these individuals about the services Pathway provides.

QUALIFICATIONS & EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

The Psychiatrist must have:

• Current state MD licensure in good standing
• Experience in OBOT or community health preferred
