Pasco County is Hiring a Technical Analyst II - Network Near New Port Richey, FL

Pasco County Information Technology is currently seeking to hire a Technical Analyst II-Network. This position will assist in the further development of networking and communication solutions to aid in the efficient deployment of infrastructure technology and practices on the County network and its various heterogeneous systems. This position reports to the manager in charge of Network Computing Services.
The Network Technical Analyst is responsible for the installation, layout and maintenance of all network infrastructure and communications components. This position plans, designs, analyzes, and provides technical support for data and voice communications. In addition, this position may also install, configure, monitor, troubleshoot, and maintain network equipment and servers being used in production, such as: NEC TDM telephone systems, Cisco routers and switches including the ASA product and load balancing. Cisco wireless access points, Blackberry support. Other duties this type of employee may perform include: identifying and resolving production issues; following escalation and notification procedures; following change and problem management procedures; participating on project teams; keeping abreast of technology developments; providing after hours support; researching and evaluating new technologies to be used in new or next generation solutions; providing status reports; and managing detailed project plans. Performs other work as required.
Performs administration, maintenance and support functions for the following: NEC TDM telephone systems, Windows operating systems, Cisco routers and switches including the ASA product and load balancing. Cisco wireless access point, Blackberry support. Provides status reports giving detailed description of tasks and time devoted to each task.  Performs detailed tasks. The position may be internal or external client focused, working in conjunction with Professional services and outsourcing functions. Performs task related to lifting, moving, pushing, and pulling heavy objects weighing up to 30lbs. Performs related work as required.  
  • Extensive knowledge of the following; TDM/Key phone systems; VOIP telephone systems; unified communications systems that include voice mail, email and cellular technologies, Blackberry Enterprise Server and email integration; and VMWare virtualization methodologies. Understanding of each of the following technologies is a plus: a) IP and subnets with VPN tunneling; b) mobile computing and wireless networking; c) firewall and internet security; and d) P25 interoperability.
  • Ability to use tools and utilities to help in support role.
  • Ability to create support documentation such as router configurations and troubleshooting procedures.
  • Knowledge and hands-on use of common commercial and open source network support tools.
  • Knowledge of methodologies, tools, standards, and procedures.
  • Ability to work independently as well as a team player.
PHYSICAL SKILLS: Ability to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds and also push or pull heavy objects. May use a handling device (dolly, cart, etc.) or work with another team member to lift and/or move excessively heavy objects. Ability to communicate effectively using verbal, written and visual communication.
 
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree or higher in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or related field and three (3) years of experience in development and maintenance of systems operation; OR graduation from an accredited college or university with an Associate degree in Computer Science, Electronics technology, Management Information Systems or related field and five (5) years of experience in development and maintenance of systems operation . Experience in VMWare, Cisco, and Citrix are preferred.
LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS OR REGISTRATIONS: Must possess a valid Florida driver's license. Microsoft Certified System Engineer or CCNA or equivalent technical certificate is required, if the applicant does not have a Bachelor's degree.
