Description
With limited supervision, this positionis responsible for monitoring and directing all counter activity relating to equipment and personnel, including deliveries and pickups, counter sales and customer service, merchandising and showroom.
Education / Formal Training
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Counter or dispatching experience in the rental industry is preferred
- Manufacturer-sponsored training a plus
Years and Related-type Experience
- Minimum 18 years old
- One or two years of experience in sales
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong sales and customer relation skills
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize efficiently
- Attention to detail and accuracy
Physical Demands / Working Conditions
- Activities require handling and grasping with the hands when selling equipment by utilizing hand tools, power tools, air tools, nuts, bolts, electronic controls and other small parts
- Occasional use of foot/feet to operate foot pedal on equipment to test operation
- Frequent lifting up to 25 lbs., occasional lifting up to 50 lbs. and seldom lifting up to 75 lbs.
- Occasional exposure to loud noise, dust, gas or fumes
- Limited work in unprotected weather elements
- Ability to wear hearing and eye protection as required
- Ability to walk and stand on concrete and uneven surfaces for the majority of the day
- Ability to climb over and into heavy equipment several times when necessary
Duties
- Assist rental customers in a polite, friendly, and professional manner whether in person or on the phone
- Ask customer questions to determine their rental needs and recommend proper equipment. Provide alternative suggestions if appropriate
- Prepare rental forms and contracts by obtaining customer signature and other information as required
- Explain rental fees and provide information about rented items such as operation of equipment and safety features
- Answers telephone and receives orders by phone
- Resolve customer problems and answer questions
- Schedule equipment delivery and pickups and assists customer with the loading and unloading of equipment when necessary
- Daily audits of open contracts and call overdue rentals
- Complete rental transactions on (rental software) and perform basic tasks including, checking equipment rates and availability, creating rental quotes, reserving equipment, opening/closing rental contracts, scheduling equipment deliveries/pickups, emailing quotes/reservations/contracts to customers
- Periodically update and review company website for accuracy and messaging
- Cleans showroom floor and equipment. Arrange showroom displays. Keep shelves organized, stocked and clean
- Adhere to all company policies, procedures, rules, and regulations in written or verbal form
- Attend department, store, and safety meetings
- Develop delivery routes and maintain contact with drivers throughout the day
- Keep log of delivery/set-up times
- Communicate with the warehouse manager on inventory for delivery and pick up
- Advise warehouse manager on utilization of drivers
- Call clients to advise of delivery changes
- Provide driver with route, mapping, and any specific delivery instructions requested by the customer
- Monitor any sudden route changes or road construction issues and work with drivers to establish new routes for timely deliveries. Advise personnel about traffic problems such as construction areas, accidents, congestion, weather conditions and other hazards
- Maintain inventory control of warehouse and vehicles
- Monitor personnel and/or equipment locations and utilization in order to coordinate services and schedules
- Ensure that vehicles are maintained in a safe condition for operation by working with the driver and collecting completed safety inspection/safety checklists on vehicles
- Comply with government safety requirements and other regulations and security in-store. Report any safety violations to supervisors
- Other duties as requested
