Responsibilities:

The Dining Room Supervisor ensures that the dining room is set up properly and that staff is prepared for service to the residents for every meal served. He/she ensures that all policies and procedures are adhered to by all team members. He/she creates relationships with all residents. The Dining Room Supervisor assists the Dining Services Director in the operation of the department. He/she ensures that on going in-service training and education of all team members is maintained.

  • Maintains the professional, neat, and clean appearance of the dining room and the private dining room at all times.
  • Upholds and enforces team member appearance standards as set forth by policy.
  • Performs the duties of dining room servers in their absence.
  • Checks the accuracy of the menu for the day; report any issues to the Dining Services Director.
  • Presents food in a timely fashion and attractively garnished with appropriate condiments available based on the meal.
  • Maintains cleanliness, organization, and safety of the dining room and all service and storage areas.
  • Performs weekly Quality Assurance self-inspection of the dining room and related service areas with corrective action follow up.
  • In coordination with the Dining Services Director, maintains dining room schedules to provide adequate staffing based on budgetary guidelines.
  • Performs all Salus/Valeo and dining room special events at a high-level of service.
  • Ensure that resident service in the dining room is at a high-level.
  • Develops relationships with all residents (visit with residents at mealtime).
  • Responds to and resolve all resident dining issues immediately.
  • Attends resident council and food committee meeting and respond to the resident suggestions, complaints and comments.
  • Performs mandatory monthly training; coach and support staff on a daily/shift basis.
  • Conducts progressive discipline for team members as necessary.
  • Observes and enforces all policies and procedures set forth by the Dining Services Department.
  • Informs the Dining Services Director of any needed supplies, dining room small wares or equipment issues.
  • Ensures that all potential meals sold revenue is billed appropriately.
  • Performs any additional duties requested by the Dining Services Director.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Similar experience preferable.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and work flexible shifts.
  • Full knowledge of local and state health and sanitation and safety codes.
  • Ability to operate all kitchen equipment associated with the dining room operation.
  • Ability to train, mentor, and develop team members.
  • Professional attitude.
  • Ability to take and give direction.
  • Excellent leadership and organizational skills
  • Strong communication and listening skills.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Physically able to bend and reach.
  • Physically able to push and pull and lift up to 25 pounds if necessary.

Miscellaneous:

  • May have their picture taken and image used in social media or community advertising.
  • May be video recorded from devices installed by families in residents’ apartments.
  • May be required to work weekends and holidays as assigned.
  • May be required to work on shifts other than the one for which hired.
  • May be required to work extended hours (up to 16 hours per day).
  • May be subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc., including HIV, AIDS, and Hepatitis B and C viruses.
  • Could be subject to hostile and emotionally upset Residents due to mental status.
  • Must be in good physical and emotional health and free of communicable diseases.
  • Background, criminal, and drug tests may be required.
  • May be asked to submit to random drug test during employment.
