This position is based in NYC and will be coming into our SoHo office 2-3 days a week. 

Product Testing and Compliance develops and updates company protocols and standards as necessary to remain current with regulatory and market requirements, and ensures bulk product is compliant prior to shipping. Ensuring all company’s products, processes and vendor partners meet the highest quality standards and compliance requirements for the industries.

What You'll Do:

• Define, implement and manage processes to ensure that products meet the required specifications for quality, function and reliability based on the company's customer defined protocols and industry recognized standards prior to commercialization and through production for the lifetime of the product and/or program.
• Maintain compliance with federal, state and local and organizational laws, regulations, guidelines and policies.
• Responsible for risk assessment and avoidance related to products and vendor compliance.
• Provide textile technical and quality expertise to support innovation goals, identify and address potential issues and challenges in manufacturing and plan accordingly to deliver proven and tested products.
• Collaborates with cross functional teams and factories to provide advice on regulatory compliance, monitors corrective action plans and provides recommendations on labeling rules.
• Support product teams and vendors with inquiries and general information on certifications and claims
• Communicate with labs and/or customers as required to resolve any testing discrepancies.
• Identify, set, monitor, and enforce appropriate quality standards, parameters/testing protocols for products.
• Identify and prioritize sustainability initiatives, setting goals that support alignment and integration of the company’s sustainability vision into overall company strategy and implementing processes, controls, systems and dashboards to measure progress for consistent and accurate reporting.
• Monitor Performance and Compliance: Ongoing audit, inspection of facility and products through various processes including but not limited to on-site visits, work in progress review/testing, spot inspections in distribution network and request for certification/compliance documents.
• Manage garment testing and inspection reports to ensure compliance with our standards requirements.
• Manage the Top of Production samples approval process prior to shipping.

Critical Skills:

• Strong understanding of textile fibers, fabrics, and apparel properties of and experience writing care and fiber content labels.
• Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of compliance legislation and standards.
• Possess thorough understanding of chemical/analytical testing, manufacturing processes, laboratory test methodology, ratings analysis as well as industry and consumer tolerances.
• Logical thinker, strong analytical, problem solving abilities.

What You'll Bring:

• At least 5 years of related experience in a textile industry including Quality, Textile Manufacturing, Innovation and Product Development
• Must be able to recognize nonconformance to approved sample garments as it relates to construction and appearance.
