Position Title: Occupational Therapist
Position ReportsTo: Director of Rehabilitation
Basic Function
Plans and administersmedically prescribed Occupational Therapy evaluations and treatments forpatients suffering from injuries, or medical diseases, to restore functions,relieve pain, and prevent disability. Inaddition, Occupational Therapist may perform supervisory and administrativefunctions.
Nature andScope
The position will report to theDirector of Rehabilitation responsible for the facility(s) or area(s) ofservice. The scope of care can includepatients form pediatric to geriatric.
Qualifications
·Minimum of two (2) years clinical experiencepreferred
·Must have current unrestricted professionallicense to practice
·Graduate from an accredited Occupational TherapyProgram with a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctorate degree in OccupationalTherapy.
·Must possess excellent organizational, timemanagement, and leadership abilities
·Excellent oral and written communication skillsare required
Principal Job Responsibilities
1.Meet company guidelines by maintaining companyestablished productivity levels.
2.Performs an accurate comprehensive initialevaluation based on the patient’s diagnosis.
3.Develops appropriate, functional and measurablegoals and a plan of treatment to meet the goals based on input from thepatient/family.
4.Establishes a realistic time frame to achievetreatment goals.
5.Performs a variety of techniques to improvefunction, tone, strength, etc.
6.Utilizes positioning as a technique to preventor reduce deformities and or promote function.
7.Assesses indications for, fit of, and proper useof orthotics and prosthetics.
8.Performs a re-evaluation at least once every twoweeks for inpatients and once a month for outpatients.
9.Follows all state regulations for and maintainscurrent licensure.
10.Provides written documentation in accordancewith accepted professional standards, company standards, and all State andFederal laws, rules and regulations.
11.Enters all pertinent documentation into thepatient progress notes in a timely manner per department and facility policy.
12.Ensures timely and accurate reporting forbilling of all services provided.
13.Progresses the patient appropriately.
14.Ensures timely D/C planning.
15.Educates the patients/family/staff regarding ahome exercise program or Functional Maintenance Program, assistance required,and equipment fit and function.
16.Maintains good working relationship withfacility(s) staff/customer(s).
17.Acts as a clinical preceptor, as directed.
18.Follows company expectations in regards toHIPAA/Corporate Compliance policies and procedures.
19.Adheres with Medicare Final Local Medical ReviewPolicy for discipline specific guidelines.
20.Performs other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements
·Job duties are generally performed in a cleanand well-equipped area with uniform temperatures and normal noise levels
·Work alternates between sitting and standingwith mobility necessary
·Average sight, talking, hearing, and touching arenecessary
·Ability to lift, turn, move, position and /ortransport patient in/out of bed, chair, wheelchair with or without reasonableaccommodation and without posing a threat to health or safety of him/herself orothers, including patients, their families, and co-workers
·Must be able to drive between facilities andspecific locations as needed
·Ability to administer CPR
Exposure
Occupational Therapist willhave close contact with patients and is likely to come in contact with blood orbodily fluids.
