Panasonic - Senior Software Engineer

• Take ownership and lead the software development of the device layer or hardware abstraction layer of the Panasonic software application stack
• Evaluate and integrate 3rd party hardware into our software platform
• Contribute to the software development lifecycle, focusing on designing, implementation and debugging software solutions
• Collaborate with a team of software engineers and testers using a scrum based agile software development methodology
• Work closely with product managers to understand requirements and design software solutions to satisfy customer requirements
• Develop robust, multi-threaded product software on Windows
• Work with vendors and QA to debug software issues and ensure robust software quality
• Investigate how technologies such as edge computing may fit into our current and future solutions
• Work in a highly collaborative team environment, developing commercialized production software
• Use unit testing tools, profilers, continuous integration and GIT
• Work with sales and field engineers to develop integrated software or hardware solutions for customer requirements, and to support escalations from customers for field issues.

What You'll Bring:

Education and Experience:

• BS degree or higher in Computer Science
• Minimum of 5 years of experience enabling software applications to interface and communicate with 3rd party devices
• Experience developing robust, multi-threaded device-layer software on Windows
• Experience developing on a Windows environment using C# .NET
• Experience with wireless, RFID & network communication technologies
• Proven experience with memory management and ability to develop to an API is required
• Experience interfacing with embedded devices using different protocols, USB, Wi-Fi, Ethernet etc.
• Experience working in a product development environment a plus
• Experience with unit testing tools, profilers, continuous integration and GIT
• Experience working with customers to support production installs, customer implementation support and escalation support is a plus
• This position is located in Rochester, NY
