Founded in 1916, Palma Ceia Golf & Country Club is located in Tampa’s most prestigious residential neighborhood and is the Tampa Bay area’s most prestigious private club. The club features an 18-hole championship golf course, tennis courts, swimming, a fitness center, and clubhouse for member entertaining, dining and banquets. Job Summary

The steward/dishwasher position is an entry-level position that works in the kitchen areas performing routine support tasks, cleaning and sanitizing production areas and washing dishes and service ware. The steward is not typically involved in the preparation of food, but keeps things clean and organized so that food preparation can be completed efficiently. In order to be successful, the incumbent must be self-motivated and understand and consistently follow proper sanitation practices, including utilization of personal protective equipment, safety, and personal hygiene; must be able to tolerate a moderate amount of heavy moving and/or lifting; and must be able to work a flexible schedule including early mornings, late nights, weekends, holidays, and special events.

Essential Duties

• Washes, dries, and properly stores all cooking utensils, china, equipment, flatware and glassware; washes dishes using appropriate machinery or by hand according to sanitation standards and health department guidelines.
• Inspects dishwashing machinery to ensure proper working conditions; reports any problems or malfunctions in a timely manner.
  Polishes silverware, platters and chafing dishes.
• Stores all dishes and other wares in proper areas.
  Collects trash from kitchen areas; empties garbage cans and washes and relines cans with clean bags; breaks down boxes and crates, and removes debris.
• Examines garbage for misplaced silverware, dishes, glassware and other reusable items.
• Washes and polishes all stainless steel in the kitchen including shelves, dish cabinets, ice machines, coffee area, refrigerators, and walk-ins.
  Sweeps, mops, and cleans kitchen floors, receiving area, dumpster area, and other kitchen areas.
• Cleans dish machine and dish area after each meal period.
• Maintains inventories of soap, cleaning supplies, and paper towels.
  Transfers supplies and equipment between storage and work areas.
• Handles all china and glassware carefully to minimize breakage.
• Properly employs personal protective equipment (PPE) to minimize workplace injury or illness resulting from contact with chemical, electrical, mechanical, and other workplace hazards.
• Continuously inspects floors in kitchen areas to ensure they remain clean, dry and clear of debris.
• Assists in completing weekly kitchen cleaning and maintenance list.
• Cleans and safely stores all brooms, mops and other cleaning equipment in proper places.
• Uses chemical cleaning supplies in accordance with prescribed manufacturing guidelines and hazard/safety labels.
• Helps food servers by prioritizing the washing of specified service items.
• May be requested to assist with prep work, storing deliveries, and cleaning coolers, freezers, and storerooms.
  Attends kitchen staff meetings.
• Performs other related duties that may be assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements

Physical Demands

• Must be able to perform physically strenuous tasks repetitively, such as emptying garbage, lifting and carrying trays and trash cans.
  Ability to stand and perform moderately physically demanding work for sustained periods of time throughout work shift (excluding lunch and/or breaks).
• Ability to lift and move objects (average weight of 25-30 lbs.) and repetitive motion and activities such as walking, standing, kneeling, bending, crouching, lifting, carrying, etc.

Minimum Qualifications

• Three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of training and experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• One year of experience as a dishwasher/kitchen steward.
