POSITION OVERVIEW
As a Marketing Communications Manager you will helpcreate and implement external communications plans to increase Pallet’s market share. You will be Pallet’s primary point of contact for all media relations activities and interact with media personnel to place stories showcasing the work of Pallet, its partners, village residents, and employees. You will own the relationship with our agency partners working closely with our Content Strategist and Social/Paid Media Teams to align our voice and activities consistently in the marketplace.
RESPONSIBILITIES
In the first three months, you will…
· Develop an understanding of Pallet’s existing marketing, media/press activities and strategic plan
· Understand the Pallet story, voice of Pallet, and shelter village model
· Form strong working relationships with Pallet’s Government Affairs Team and Content Strategist
· Travel with the Pallet team to begin to experience our shelter villages
· Meet Pallet’s media relations agency, get up to speed on their strategies, and begin to provide leadership and guidance to their work
· Introduce yourself to Pallet’s existing media contacts at regional and national outlets including the New York Times, NPR, and many more
After three months you will…
· Lead Pallet’s media relations agency to improve visibility, protect the brand’s reputation, and increase the number of news stories where Pallet is featured positively
· Work closely with the Pallet Content Strategist to align our voice cohesively across all activities
· Work closely with our media agency to align our activities across paid owned and earned channels
· Lead our media agency to support the coordination of media interviews behind the scenes, preparing appropriate spokesperson(s) for each interview as needed
· Develop media relations materials including press announcements, pitches, and press kits, Q&As, and other collateral
· Develop and implement an executive speaking and awards strategy
· Develop and implement an executive leadership social media strategy
· Conduct research of emerging issues of reputational consequence to Pallet and its affiliates
· Lead crisis response and emergency communications
· Maintain and up-to-date tracker of news media coverage
In the future you will have the chance to…
· Lead investor communications, providing regular updates to Pallet’s social impact investment group
REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS ROLE
· Bachelor's degree (BA or BS) in communication, marketing or related field from an accredited institution and 3 years relevant experience OR equivalent combination of education and experience
· Experience managing or working with marketing or media agencies
· Prior crisis management communication experience would be beneficial
· Meet rapidly evolving and ambiguous challenges confidently with energy and drive
· High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple, competing priorities simultaneously and deliver quality results

· Professional experience with social impact or mission-driven brands
· Professional experience working with people experiencing homelessness, homelessness services, and/or case management
