Responsibilities

Our Washington, D.C. location seeks an enthusiastic and creative Designer who will work across various market sectors including, but not limited to, Corporate Commercial, Housing, Hospitality, Healthcare, Academic, Science & Technology and similarly design related projects.

As the Interior Designer, you will work on multiple projects simultaneously with oversight and design direction from Senior Interior Designers. You have a passion for design but are also eager to learn from senior designers and directors, and actively strive to improve your technical and client facing skills. Respected by clients and peers, you will work to understand and balance the needs of clients, coworkers, vendors, and the firm to provide sound guidance for all parties.

  • Supports project lead(s) in client meetings, document preparation, and presentations
  • Coordinates with outside vendors, consultants, and product representatives to research products and gather information
  • Conducts site surveys and inputs information to prepare accurate existing site documentation
  • Prepares documents for all phases of development from programming through construction administration
  • Renders conceptual design ideas and prepares 2D and 3D presentation/design drawings
  • Generates areas/aspects of the overall design concept, schematic design, design development, and construction documents; and corrects and updates concepts and documents upon direction by senior staff
  • Supports the Construction Administration phase by responding to RFI’s and reviewing change orders and shop drawings
  • Strives for design impact through innovative, thoughtful, and functional design
  • Strives for efficiency, organized process, and to reduce errors and omissions

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master of Architecture or Interior Design
  • 5-12 years of experience in an architecture or interior design firm
  • Commitment to continual learning and advancement of all relevant skills
  • Ability to produce good technical work under supervision of a Senior Designer
  • Exhibits good interpersonal skills and diplomacy, and projects a positive professional presence
  • Flexibility to focus on a single client with a variety of project types or multiple, concurrent projects in various stages of development
  • Working knowledge of FF&E products and current design drivers or trends
  • Working knowledge of the architectural/interior building codes
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken). Excellent writing skills to clearly address and record all project issues and progress.
  • Interacts well with other disciplines and clients in a manner that builds productive relationships
  • Experience with Revit, Microsoft Office, Bluebeam
