Lead Driver CDL (A)
MISSION
As coach to our drivers, you will have a wide range of responsibility and autonomy to ensure that our driver and customer needs are being met. It is our goal to ensure that PADNOS attracts and retains great talent. To be successful in this role it is imperative that clear, consistent, and appropriate communication is occurring between the LPT Coach and the driver team.
POSITION SUMMARY
A Lead Driver CDL (A) is responsible for assisting the Driver Coach with the oversite of a team of drivers. This person will assist with ensuring complete route coverage, prompt, and courteous customer service, and has the qualifications to safely operate all truck and trailer combinations within the Company. In addition, the LD is responsible for ensuring vehicles are in compliance with the Company’s safety standards and champions all Company, state and federal regulations and assists fellow drivers meet this standard. The LD will act as a liaison between operations and maintenance on a daily basis to ensure that any vehicle defects are repaired in a timely manner and assist in the coordination of equipment and PM/Services. The LD assists the Driver Coach in training new drivers on proper safety and driving techniques. He or she will also assist with any refresher or new training deiminated from Padnos to. LD will act as an in-house training assistant. This will reduce complacency and increase the adoption of company police and procedures which will reduce risk/accidents. Adding a lead driver will increase driver awareness, overall readiness, through elevating our communication. The LD will create better follow through for both drivers and customers. Increasing both our engagement, and NPS scores. He or she will reduce down-time, missed trips, adding revenue to the bottom line. We could leverage the LD by keeping them off route as much as possible. We can use him or her to react to the day-to-day setbacks. If a driver calls in the LD can cover those runs or help to get them covered by other drivers. If a driver goes down the LD can run them a spare. At the bare minimum, the LD can successfully complete the “reg” or “AAA” runs to ensure our most valued customers are serviced on our promise date. An indirect outcome will be the reduction of turnover. The TO reduction will save maintenance dollars. Historically, new drivers are at increased risk of miss use and abuse on equipment, property damage, and a lower level of efficiency. Helping reducing our TO will create additional capacity within the LPT/LPM budget.
