JOB TITLE: Production Supervisor

SUMMARY: Responsible for managing and organizing all production functions to include the supervising of the syrup mixing operation and total quality work functions performed by the Lab Techs. This position is a high responsibility position due to the nature of our product and customer safety. Plan, organize and monitor all processes to ensure 100% manufacturing/quality compliance for all products. Serve as an advocate for the company, mentor, and coach to the employees.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

  • Develop, train, motivate and provide leadership/input with production work group. Instruct work group on specific duties/assignments to be accomplished daily. Ensure a clean/safe work environment.
  • Schedule/oversee the work completed in the production work area. Continuous monitoring of product manufacturing/quality standards.
  • Participate in and deliver training on GMP, safety, and environmental programs. Assist in development of new work processes and procedures.
  • Contribute to the budgeting process to include making recommendations for equipment changes, rebuilds, and new technology to enhance work performance.
  • Coordinate production startup, shutdowns, and changeovers to achieve a timely/world class process.
  • Implement new procedures and work methods for the production work group. This could include writing standard operating procedures, preventative maintenance procedures, and job safety analysis, or researching better methods to correct and improve work group results.
  • Study and standardize procedures to improve efficiency of work group. Provide cross shift/department communications.
  • Develop shift schedules to include workstation assignment, rotations, and training. Manage employee vacation time, break/lunch schedules, and overtime.
  • Complete written documentation and maintain the required records to satisfy CCNA and other internal/external requirements.
  • Required to use small hand tools to adjust line and assist with line changeovers.
  • Other duties may be assigned or requested.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Lead, manage and supervise the production work group in operating procedures and scheduling. Maintain direction and compliance with Company policies and applicable regulations/laws. Communicate work changes; complete annual performance evaluations that are objective, providing consistent feedback on performance goals/objectives.

Requirements

COMPETENCIES: Good interpersonal and written/verbal communication skill required. This position will act as an advocate for the Company; be a mentor and leader of the work group; and coaching the employees for ongoing attainment of stretch performance and a sense of work accomplishment.

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Education and/or Experience: BA in Business or related field of study, or 3 years general work experience in a production environment, with 4 years supervisory experience.
  • Language Skills: Ability to read. Ability to respond to common inquires. Must be able to write clearly and record very precise data.
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Use of calculator in determining percentages, a good understanding of basic algebraic calculations is necessary in calculating acidity of citrus based products.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions supplied both written and verbal. Due to fast paced environment and the critical measurements being monitored, the employee must be very alert.
  • Computer Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office (Work, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Outlook). Good skills required for recording and tracking inventory, results of testing, reporting, and calculating of batches.
  • Certificates, Licences, Registrations : None.
  • Other Skills and Abilities: Follow-up and attention to detail. Ability to train and coach employees.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance, stoop, kneel, crouch/kneel bend and reach.

The employee will be on feet for multiple hours, moving, bending, lifting, stacking, un-stacking, squatting, and stretching in performing the essential functions of position.

The employee is required to lift and/or move, bend, and rotate at the waist a minimum of 90 degrees while handling weights from 10 to 50 pounds from floor level to a height of 60 inches.

Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to inside and outside work conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Floors may be wet/damp and slippery. There will be exposure to temperature extremes while assisting with the unloading of sweetener in winter months.
