OVG360 is Hiring an Event Manager Near Savannah, GA

OVG 360 has an exciting opening for an Event Manager at the Johnny Mercer Theater and the Enmarket Arena. The Johnny Mercer Theater is home to numerous events every year such as Broadway Musicals, concerts, professional ballets, and comedy shows. The Theater seats 2,600 and boasts one of the largest prosceniums in the Southeast. Named after famous composer, Johnny Mercer, the theater has been a staple to the Savannah area hosting entertainment legends such as Jerry Seinfeld, Chicago, and Patty LaBelle since its opening in 1974. The Enmarket Arena is a 9,500 capacity multipurpose venue with luxury suites, club seating, and first-rate food and beverage. In it’s first year of opening, the Enmarket Arena has played host to multiple sold out concerts, family shows, top rated comedy acts. In November 2022 the Enmarket Arena hosted the southeast’s newest ECHL hockey team, the Savannah Ghost Pirates for their inaugural season.
Overview
The Event Manager with support of the VP of events and operations and senior event manager will manage every aspect of events in the facility from the advance planning stages through the end of the event; position will work with third parties to recruit, train, motivate, and evaluate all front of house event staff including building security, guest services, medical staff, coordination of police presence, and interact with local public safety officials to ensure events run smoothly. They will coordinate communication between event related staff and delegate assignments; be responsible for and ensure overall customer and lessee satisfaction.
Responsibilities
  • Responsible for planning, coordinating, and facilitating the logistics of events at the Johnny Mercer Theater and will assist with events at the Enmarket Arena
  • Work with and in support of the VP of Events and Operations and Senior Event Manger to coordinate, plan and execute events throughout the arena and outside surrounding areas 
  • Timely and accurately communicating with building staff for all requirements necessary for each event
  • Prepare event estimates determined by requirements using annual budget as a guide
  • Work with third party groups to select, train, motivate and evaluate Front of House staff
  • Coordinate event seating layouts with box office when necessary
  • Coordinate show requirements with tour production managers
  • Prepare data sheet for building personnel prior to each event
  • Present event previews/reviews in weekly staff meeting
  • Develop and control event budgets including preparing pre-show event financial estimates and completing post-show financial settlements based on contractual requirements.
  • Deliver timely and accurate event information to the finance department for settlement/invoicing
  • Troubleshoot during event preparation and during event to ensure that all event setups are correct including making decisions about policy, procedures, billing, and staffing
  • Oversee all production, set up, event staff, event-related contract services
  • Schedule through third party for event staff, security staff, police, fire and EMS staff and delegate assignments and review performance and results
  • Facilitate event load ins and load outs that are typically early in the mornings and/or late into the evenings
  • Communicate in a timely fashion to the VP of events and operations and Senior Event Manager
  • Receives and responds to tenants and the public or refers them to the VP of events and operations
  • Prepares events reports noting attendance, times, significant problems, etc.
  • Interacts with other city facility staff in a courteous, cooperative, and professional manner
Nonessential Job Functions:

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s/Technical degree from an accredited college/university/school required.
  • 3-5 years min experience in facility events and operations management or an equivalent degree within Sports and Entertainment Management.
  • Related experience and/or training in the public assembly industry in a supervisory or management position
  • Must be able to work flexible schedule including, early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays and extended number of consecutive days.
  • Knowledge of budget preparation and control.
  • Proficient knowledge of Windows and Microsoft Office software
  • Knowledge of operational characteristics of events, including crowd management and control techniques; fire and public safety regulations, and customer service practices
  • Self-motivated with excellent interpersonal and communications skills and the ability to function and make management decisions in a fast-paced high-pressure environment with strong attention to detail and organization
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Occasional travel may be required
