About the Oversight Board

The Oversight Board makes binding and independent decisions about the most challenging content issues on Facebook and Instagram. Members of the Board include Helle Thorning-Schmidt, former Prime Minister of Denmark, Tawakkol Karman, Nobel Peace Prize Winner, Michael McConnell, Director of Stanford’s Constitutional Law Center, and may other diverse leaders and thinkers from around the world. The Board issued its first decisions in January 2021.

The Oversight Board Administration is the team of full-time staff who supports Board Members in carrying out their duties. The Administration has a presence in London, San Francisco and Washington, D.C., and operates with a global scope.

Joining the Oversight Board Administration is a chance to be part of an organization which is leading on some of the most challenging issues facing the tech industry and society. 

You will be responsible for the development, governance, and implementation of the Oversight Board’s Technology architecture, as well as influencing and selecting architecture concepts, designs, and strategies. You will be responsible for the Technology Team who take charge of providing design, build, and maintenance solutions for the Oversight Board's current and future technology architectures and platforms, ensuring they meet business needs, perform to expected standards, align with industry and market developments, and demonstrate value for money.

As a member of the Senior Management Team, you will be providing subject matter expertise in a highly skilled and complex field, ensuring ongoing integrity of the enterprise technology architecture, as well as translating business objectives into technology solutions. 

This role will be based at Washington, DC or London. Oversight Board offers flexible hybrid remote working, so we welcome applications for those based across the East Coast or UK to allow for collaboration of time zones.

  • Extensive experience of developing and leading Technology teams, preferably, in a highly regulated industry. 
  • Expert knowledge in cloud-based infrastructure, systems, and services with experience implementing platforms such as Google, Workspace / AWS. 
  • Excellent leadership skills in managing different stakeholders. 
  • Experience in a broad generalist Tech background and who understands networking infrastructure, servers, data backup, telephone systems, office user applications, security systems, and more. 
  • Extensive project management experience working on complex projects with cross-functional teams and multiple external stakeholders.
  • Excellent and well-practiced communication (spoken, written, listening), interpersonal and influencing skills with the ability to bridge specialism and business through user-friendly language. 
  • Experience working with multiple executives at once to drive delivery of a shared goal. 
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Strong organizational skills with particular emphasis on attention to detail.
