Outset Medical is Hiring a Staff Accountant Near San Jose, CA

We are looking for a Staff Accountant to oversee the overall strategy and execution of the company’s travel and expense program, develop and administer policies for company travel, and expense reimbursements and corporate cards. You will run and maintain audit reports to ensure adherence to established policies, and prepare month-end journal entries as well as perform reconciliations. You'll also provide support to employee-owners by answering questions and resolving issues related to the company’s travel and expense program. We're looking for someone who isn't afraid to be "hands on” and is flexible, hard-working and able to work well under pressure. This position is a hybrid work position, needing you to possibly be in the office 3-4 days a week.

Responsibilities/Functions:

  • Oversee SAP Concur Travel & Expense as Administrator
  • Audits all employee expense reimbursement reports to determine validity and accuracy of expenses claimed with appropriate receipts
  • Take ownership of expense report email alias and be able to respond within 24 hours (business days) with clear and precise responses
  • Manages and submits support cases for the business through SAP Concur Travel & Expense
  • Provides user support regarding travel and expense program, including addressing issues, requests, system errors, payment inquiries and other matters related to travel and expense.
  • Develops and administers policies for company travel, expense reimbursements and corporate cards.
  • Prepares all Travel & Expense and other month-end journal entries
  • Prepares Balance Sheet reconciliation 
  • Serves as a subject matter expert and key escalation contact for employees and suppliers.
  • Cross train with Accounts Payable Team to support AP functions: print checks, open mail, deposit income customer checks
  • Assist with month-end activities such as accruals
  • Monitor and Maintenance Company Corporate credit card process
  • Support and backup to Fixed Asset Accountant
  • Assist with audit preparation

Required Qualifications

  • Accounting degree or equivalent experience
  • 2 years of similar experience in Accountants
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills

Desirable Qualifications

  • Basic understanding accounting, knowledge of US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), including GL journal entries and accruals
  • 2 years’ experience in travel and expense reimbursement processes and services
  • SAP Concur Travel & Expense experience preferred
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • Well organized and attention to detail
  • Demonstrates strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
  • Maintains high performance standards; passion for excellence and continuous improvement
  • Meets deadlines, prioritizes appropriately and is flexible
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Excel, Power point and Word
  • Familiar with QAD ERP is a plus
