Our Lady's Center is Hiring a RN Supervisor Per-Diem Near Atlantic, NJ

JOB SUMMARY:
The primary purpose of this position is to supervise and coordinate activities of nursing personnel and (ancillary staff when needed) during the assigned shift in conjunction with the Director of Nursing. The Supervision will be in accordance with current Federal, State and Local standards, regulations, OSHA and HIPAA guidelines. Follow established facility policies and procedures that govern the facility. Assure that the highest degree of quality care is provided to our residents at all times. Must be a person with imagination and possess the creative skills necessary to work with a variety of people. Should have an empathetic approach to illness and ill-elderly. Must be an able leader in group situations and have a pleasant, friendly personality. Must be able to execute independent judgment in the absence of management. Responsible for overseeing staff. Ensures that full respect is rendered to all residents, visitors’ co-workers and management. Routinely interacts with Medical and Other Professionals.
Job Responsibilities:
  • In depth knowledge and compliance with resident’s rights.
  • In depth knowledge and compliance with fire rules, placement of fire boxes, evacuation and disaster plan, and OSHA requirements.
  • Report immediately to the Director of Nursing/administration any incidents/accidents involving self, a resident, visitor and/or co-worker.
  • Adhere to and uphold established policies and procedures of the facility.
  • Use proper channels of communication at all times.
  • Follow established safety rules and precautions. Be alert to conditions that may present a hazard to residents, staff and/or visitors. Report in a timely manner to appropriate party.
  • Develop and maintain a good working rapport with other departments within the facility, and outside community to assure that programs/services can be properly maintained to meet the needs of the residents.
  • Keep abreast of current Federal and State Regulations as well as professional standards on an annual basis.
  • Make recommendations on changes in policies and procedures to the Director of Nursing.
  • Follow established infection control policies and procedures.
  • Attend and participate in scheduled staff meeting and educational programs.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all pertinent resident care information to assure resident rights are protected as per current HIPAA regulations.
  • Maintain an excellent working relationship with the medical profession and other health related facilities and organizations.
  • Create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest and positive emphasis, as well as a calm environment throughout the facility.
  • Assure that established safety rules and regulations are followed at all times.
  • Report immediately to charge nurse signs and symptoms which signify a physical change in resident’s condition that would require nursing intervention.
  • Serve on various committees of the facility as may be appointed by the Director of Nursing.
  • Assist the DON/ADON in maintaining and completing the department’s records and audits.
  • Ensure that all personnel involved in providing care to the residents are aware of and utilizing the plans of care in administering daily care to the residents.
  • Make routine rounds of the nursing units to ensure that all nursing service personnel are performing their work assignments in accordance with acceptable nursing standards.
  • Monitor nursing service personnel to ensure that they are following established safety regulations in the use of equipment and supplies.
  • Assist in providing for the spiritual, psychological and social needs of residents, staff and visitors.
  • Listen to residents, staff, families and significant others complaints and follow up with resolution.
  • Identify and solve departmental and personnel problems and bring it to the attention of the Director of Nursing/ADON.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all resident care information to assure resident rights are protected and all residents are treated fairly, with kindness, dignity and respect.

Essential Functions:
  • Directs, evaluate and supervise all resident care and initiate corrective action as necessary.
  • Makes routine resident rounds with a formal report to the Director of Nursing and Administrator.
  • Ensure that residents reports are reviewed in a timely manner and that appropriate follow up action is taken as needed.
  • Ensures that residents are admitted and discharged in accordance with facilities policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for implementation of the quality assessment and assurance program on their shift.
  • Assess resident equipment and supply needs, and make recommendations to the Director of Nursing Service.
  • Complete reports and assignments accurately and adhere to established time schedules.
  • Establish open lines of communication between all nursing personnel and consistently take follow-up action as necessary.
  • Prepares and adjusts time schedule keeping abreast of needs and attempts to fill in staff vacancies for following shift.
  • Completes performance appraisal of staff nurses and aides
  • Conducts meeting with Nursing staff as needed.
  • Keeps Administrator and Director of Nursing informed of all emergency situations.
  • Assess employee injury as outlined by the policy
  • Submits report daily to oncoming supervisor and as required.
  • Counsel nursing staff, and recommend personnel action to the Director of Nursing as necessary.
  • Takes responsibility for knowledge of the bargaining agreement and personal policy and may take action as warranted.
  • Is responsible for the safety of residents under his/her care.
  • Come to work as scheduled and consistently demonstrate dependability and punctuality.
  • Consistently work cooperatively with administration, all service personnel, medical professionals, community agencies, residents, families and consultants.
  • Adheres to and enforces facility uniform policy.
  • Accept assigned duties in a cooperative manner.
  • Enforces policies contained in the employees' handbook.
  • Assure proper emergency care of residents, staff and visitors involved in incidents/accidents.
  • Make written and oral reports/recommendations to the Director of Nursing, as necessary and required concerning the operation of the nursing department.
  • Participate in survey (inspection) made by authorized government agencies.
  • In the absence of the Director of Nursing/ADON assume responsibility and accountability for nursing department operations.
  • May assist Director of Nursing/ADON developing, maintaining and periodically update the nursing service policy and procedure manual.
  • Works in conjunction with the in-service coordinator in providing required staff training.
  • Promote public relations and maintain liaison with other nursing units.
  • Be a morale setter and role model.
  • Assigns duties to nursing personnel.
  • Must be proficient in Computer Skills.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language.
  • Must speak English while on duty when not speaking the resident’s primary language.
  • Must have clear and legible handwriting.
  • Must be able to utilize computerized Medical Records
