Description

Title: Chief Program Officer

Dept/Program: Programs/Senior Leadership Team

Reports to: Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

Status: Full-time, Exempt

The primary purpose of this position is to lead, plan, organize and control the activities of the agencys youth and family homeless services, housing and community services programs and work collaboratively with other departments and the CEO to ensure that agency goals are met to fulfill Our Familys mission. Our Family Services provides housing and supportive services to youth, women, and families experiencing homelessness, and Information & Referral. The Senior Leadership Team comprises the top leaders for the organization, responsible for making sound administrative and agency-wide decisions, strategic planning, fiscal oversight, budgeting, program development, problem solving, team building, and community networking.

All agency positions are expected to meet the agency standards for attendance and punctuality, positive interactions with others, effective work habits, knowledge and skills, judgment and ethics. The specific expectations and essential duties of this position include:

  • Lead and facilitate program planning and problem solving, ensuring the application of best practices
  • Ensure program short-term strategic plans are developed regularly, monitored, and updated as needed
  • Manage within the parameters of the agency budget, ensures that all financial and contractual reporting is done in a timely way, and provide input on budget development and revisions
  • Ensure program policies and procedures meet all legal, licensing, and accrediting requirements, and application of best practices
  • Ensure overall quality and integrity of programs, services and staff
  • Coordinate all homeless program and service resources to ensure a client focused approach to policies and programs, and consistency across services
  • Provide oversight for all programmatic functions (client service, records and reporting), ensuring that appropriate outcomes are achieved, and that documentation is timely
  • Identify new, unmet or emerging client needs
  • Interface with community organizations in order to advocate and/or improve service delivery for clients
  • Responds in a timely manner and cooperates fully with Development in preparation of funding proposals
  • Tracks appropriate program outcomes, shares outcomes data with program staff, and uses outcomes data for program improvement
  • Provide leadership in creating a positive, constructive and healthy work environment focused on learning and improvement
  • Provide supervision, training, coaching, planning and problem-solving assistance for all direct reports
  • Facilitate and coordinate assigned Board and agency committees
  • Develop metrics for direct reports
  • Ensure that all program staff have the current and proper training
  • Represent Our Family on the local, state, and national level
  • Other duties as assigned

Scheduling flexibility:

This position generally works weekday, daytime hours. Some early evenings or weekends are necessary to meet the needs of the position. Position is on-call to direct reports 24/7, unless other coverage arrangements are made with the CEO. Some flexibility in scheduling for the employee is available, however, business need is the priority.

Compensation

Salary for this position is $79,999.92 annually

Qualifications


  • Bachelors degree preferred, however, five (5) years of related experience, including extensive non-profit program and supervisory experience.
  • Experience working with individuals and / or families experiencing homelessness
  • Eligible to receive and maintain state fingerprint clearance.
  • Strong communication and people skills
  • Ability to be clear and concise in written and verbal communications
  • Experience in planning and budgeting
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and accommodate change
  • Capacity to understand micro but manage macro
  • Ability to build strong relationships internally and externally
  • Aware of and sensitive to the diverse needs of our staff, clients and community
  • Flexible and adaptive
  • Since driving is occasionally necessary to fulfill the job functions, a valid Arizona drivers license, reliable transportation, clean driving record and current auto insurance are required
  • Computer and technological skills necessary to write reports, maintain appropriate correspondence, develop program materials, understand financial statements, enter and retrieve information on a database or spreadsheet, develop and use PowerPoint presentations, use agency email, and locate information on internet.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, however, there will be walking, standing, bending, carrying of light items such as papers, books and small parts, and driving an automobile. The employee is frequently required to talk and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.
