Date Posted: 2022-08-19-07:00 Country: United States of America Location: OT541: TFP - Florence, SC 1500 Otis Way, Florence, SC, 29501 USA Automation Controls Engineer is expected to understand all of the planning engineer’s responsibilities and tasks for the implementation of engineering changes and assisting various departments with the implementation of new automation tools, processes and required training. Qualified candidate should be capable of performing the following tasks & responsibilities: Define, develop, and deploy automation into the Otis Factory site leadership the entire life cycle of automation projects, from concept to production Suggest appropriate tools for scheduling and reporting automation project eCar drafting & approval to executive manager Able to multitask and switch momentum to new projects or priorities Work with cross functional team define project scope of work With the support of Supply Chain team, understand and comply with terms and conditions requirements of automation project. Increase awareness of other project teams (ie:Data technology, quality, production team) regarding providing input, calculations and estimations and comprehension of the output setting up project controls systems, workflows, communications, reporting and reporting tools, administration Develop project controls guidelines Assess project value (Assist in) managing interfaces Watch over consistency of project controls-related data between different department perform in-depth analyses (risk, scenario’s, what-if, etc.) Administer and assist in managing handover of completed parts of the works Report on the time aspects of the project Perform critical path analysis Maintain project prototype, preseries & pilots event-logs and issue-logs Manage the required electrical spare parts in the tool crib to ensure we can support any potential equipment failures on controls related items. Respond to any equipment downtime issues in plant and establish any required outside resources to assist in responding to these issues quickly. Train and develop the plant electricians to increase their ability to understand and troubleshoot controls related issues in the plant. Manage large and small equipment improvement projects in the plant as a leader. Complete the capital equipment list for secondary equipment required for the program detailing the cycle time requirements. Write detailed engineering specifications for all the tooling and equipment required to purchase, include all relevant legislative requirements. Select the suppliers for capital equipment. Ensure the completion dates for all equipment are met. Detail training needs for the plant for new equipment. Integrate with the launch teams to transfer the technology required for new programs successfully to the plant. Support the plant in all aspects of the electrical maintenance troubleshooting using PLC and understanding of the machines sequence of operations. Support the new equipment design reviews when required to review the status of the machine design and provide input in reference to the plant's specifications and good design practice. Be able to implement stopgaps/nonstandard equipment to achieve deadlines among the worsening lead times for control equipment. Apply PFMEA to controls processes for better product quality Work with Data Technology teams to implement network communication between MTS and controls systems. Education / Certifications Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or Computer Science (or Bachelor’s Degree and equivalent experience). Experience / Qualifications Experience with Object Oriented Computer Programming Language Minimum of five years as a Project Engineer at manufacturing facility. Skilled in programming with Allen-Bradley Studio 5000 Designer (RSLogix 5000) Non motion controls programming – ie: proximity sensor, torque tool controls. Strong teamwork capabilities, operating in a multi-function environment to collectively improve operations and resolve related issues. Motion controls certified Rockwell ie: T-K5700P Experience on automation project implementation for ABB (preferred) and/or Yaskawa (Motoman) robots. Strong mechanical aptitude.
