Pay Range: $35-40/hour

The Job: Do you have a knack for tech? If so, come join our team! As an Audio Visual Technician you will set-up, operate and maintain different types of technological equipment (sound/light/video) used for live events.

The Place: The Oshman Family Jewish Community Center (OFJCC) is an exciting and innovative non-profit organization in the heart of Silicon Valley. We create fun, meaningful, inclusive and joyful experiences through educational, social, cultural, spiritual, fitness and wellness programs. The Core Duties:

  • Design lighting, visual content and mix audio to support agency’s theater and special event productions
  • Operate lighting and audio consoles and equipment to facilitate client needs
  • Operate cameras, broadcast equipment and software for recordings, live streams and virtual meetings
  • Integrate slideshows, presentations, videos and music into live and virtual events
  • Set audio/visual/lighting equipment according to a diagram or reservation and test to ensure that all equipment functions properly before an event
  • Maintain audio and video equipment and infrastructure
  • Provide superior customer service to clients - offer solutions when problems arise and assist in troubleshooting any A/V issues during an event
  • Participate in client walkthroughs as needed prior to events

The Essentials:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent; Associate Degree desired
  • 2-3 years’ experience as an A/V technician
  • Excellent A/V and lighting technical skills
  • Scissor Lift Certification preferred
  • Must know how to drive a van and truck. Must have driver’s license.
  • Can’t be afraid of heights – working in different environments dealing with different heights
  • Problem solving and troubleshooting of all audio video installations down to component level
  • Extremely organized and detailed oriented
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to communicate information clearly (written and oral)
  • Ability to read and interpret documents, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manual
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office especially Excel and Word
  • Audio and video editing experience preferred
  • Ability and desire to work independently and as a team member with the community and other employees
  • Ability to work nights and weekends
  • Positive, upbeat and enthusiastic about working in a non-profit environment
