Expected pay for this position is $36.79 - $43.29/hour. Actual pay will be determined by experience, skills and internal equity.
POSITION SUMMARY: The Infection Preventionist responsible for infection prevention, control and education at an individual entity level necessary to support a robust Quality and Safety program. This individual will serve as a member of the patient care team to conduct patient reviews, analyze clinical care and promote appropriate care processes to prevent hospital acquired infections (HAIs). This individual will also develop, deliver, monitor and reinforce educational programs related to infection prevention and control methods and will serve as a coordinator for infection prevention and control process improvement projects. Works in the Quality and Safety department, as part of the local Quality and Safety team, and works collaboratively with facility leadership, Mission Partners, nursing, medical staff and others within the facility and across the Ministry to assist and engage Mission Partners across the OSF ministry by ensuring continuous regulatory readiness and Mission Partners have the tools and skills needed to achieve zero harm. Assists with the implementation of processes and key initiatives which support strategic patient safety goals and optimal health outcomes, including ministry wide clinical agenda implementation This individual will identify and report communicable diseases including extremely drug resistant organisms to local and state health departments as required by state and federal regulations. This individual will also conduct investigation of emergent or unusual clusters and pathogens and consult with state and local health departments, the Ministry Director of Infection Prevention and Control, and entity leadership. This individual will also serve as a member of various infection prevention and control councils and participate in the development, review and management of Infection Prevention and Control policies/procedures and the annual Infection Prevention and Control plan.
QualificationsREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in a clinical field OR Master’s degree in Public Health Licensure/Certifications: Become CIC certified within 3 years of experience and maintain certification experience
Other skills/knowledge: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Solid computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft software. Strong analytical and problem solving skills, with the ability to be detail oriented.
