The Opportunity As the company continues to grow, we are seeking a Metrology Engineer to work in our Film and Reagent Manufacturing Operations facilities. The Metrology Engineer will assess and improve our current processes and identify, develop and deploy processes utilizing industry best practices necessary to meet company and customer expectations. The position is responsible to define and support the creation of continuing robust metrology solutions. This position will provide support for a diverse collection of equipment used in Manufacturing areas and Lab areas. Completes and/or coordinates the completion of calibrations within their due dates. This position will work as part of a team of Operations, Engineering and Maintenance personnel and therefore must thrive in a cross-functional collaborative environment. Must demonstrate experience working collaboratively with team members to complete tasks and Company goals, planning, scheduling and follow- through with one's own work with minimal direction from supervision - including providing technical advice to engineering and management and deliver training to other employees for items relating to calibration requirements. All work must be thoroughly documented in our Computerized Maintenance Management System. This position is in Rochester, NY. The Responsibilities Evaluate current processes, equipment and skills to enable an improved calibration process across Assay Manufacturing including reviews and approves calibration procedures to ensure technically defensible standards, methods, and procedures for inspecting, testing and evaluating the precision, accuracy and reliability of the equipment, instruments and processes are maintained. Assists quality and manufacturing personnel to improve overall knowledge and understanding of the use of all measurement/test equipment. Participates in the full life cycle of calibration related quality records such as OOT, NC, RGI and CAPA. Performs up to the most complex equipment calibrations utilizing approved procedures and standards. Serves as SME with the release of new equipment into the production process, on technical matters in dealing with the Engineering, management and regulatory agencies at the professional level. Drives advanced technology solutions for precision manufacturing measurement systems. Assess manufacturing issues and provide solutions related to achieving challenging geometries and tolerances. Secures and oversees the activities of contract calibration providers on a variety of analytical equipment and instruments and ensures tasks are performed in compliance with approved procedures. Determines acceptability of calibration reports based on data analysis and conformance to specifications and procedures. The Individual Bachelor's degree in Engineering /Engineering Technology or related field; or equivalent. A minimum of 4-6 years' experience in a measurement system with demonstrated successful performance. Minimum of 10 years work experience in an manufacturing engineering environment. Follows the validation process, including conducting design reviews, pre- validation assessments, and installation, operational, and process qualifications. Ability to think strategically and execute on ideas. Demonstrated experience with basic statistics and data analysis. Detailed experience with quality management systems (ISO-9001, ISO-1430, etc.) and FDA regulated industry highly desirable. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills is desired. Desired computer skills to include: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.), Maintenance CMMS systems. (Maximo experience a plus) Required Travel: Less than 5%.
