NATIONAL SAFETY APPAREL is Hiring a Human Resources Business Partner Near Chicago, IL

Reports To: Director of Human Resources

Direct Reports: HR Specialist

FLSA Status: Exempt

Employment Type: Full Time

Position Overview: The Senior HR Business Partner will lead HR initiatives at the Chicago facility (manufacturing and office operations), foster positive employee relations, support and coach managers, champion employee engagement initiatives, and ensure alignment with company values and objectives.

This position is part of the corporate-wide HR team and is responsible for effectively executing HR strategies, programs, and policies in the day-to-day operations. This role requires a highly skilled and experienced HR professional with a history of effectively managing HR programs while strengthening workplace culture, employee relations, and partnering with management and executive teams. The ability to converse in Spanish is highly desirable . This is an onsite role.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Drive HR initiatives, programs, and policies for the facility (i.e., sewing training school)
  • Lead employee communications for the site
  • Support and train managers in employee relations issues, including but not limited to counseling, coaching, and corrective action.
  • Manage recruiting efforts for the site
  • Establish and/or leverage relationships and networks within the Chicago community to attract and retain talent
  • Facilitate the internal transfers, job promotion and interview processes
  • Coordinate and facilitate a variety of employee meetings, engagement events, and trainings
  • Manage site LOA’s including FMLA, STD, and personal leaves
  • Track, monitor and coach employees and supervisors on weekly attendance
  • Create reward/recognition and engagement programs to drive performance in alignment with business objectives
  • Onboard new employees and coordinate new hire orientations
  • Assist Corporate EHS Coordinator to ensure compliance with annual Safety and Health compliance training. Assist with injuries, illnesses, and Workers Compensation
  • Support, mentor, and manage site HR Specialist
  • Assist Corporate HR team with company-wide projects and initiatives
  • Update and maintain job descriptions
  • Maintain HRIS accuracy for all employee records
  • Ensure compliance with City of Chicago, Cook County, IL, and Federal employment laws
  • Ensure proper record keeping and employee data maintenance

Non-Essential Job Functions: Other duties as assigned.

Training: Provided on the job and supplemented with external seminars/classes.

Qualifications:

  • Education & Certifications: Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • Experience: Minimum 7 years prior HR experience. Strong HR Generalist background required. Prior manufacturing experience highly preferred; bilingual in Spanish highly preferred. Prior union experience preferred.

Physical Requirements: Long periods of sitting or standing at an individual computer workstation; time spent walking and standing on production floor as necessary.

Working Conditions: Primarily in a temperature-regulated office environment; some time in busy production environment, with varied noise levels.
