As the QA Specialist, this candidate will support the Orgain, LLC nimble culture by maintaining the continued compliance of raw material and component documentation to ensure consistency and excellence in product quality. Reporting to the Sr Contract Manufacturing Quality and Food Safety Manager, this position will work closely with the Sr. QA Supplier Specialist and supply chain to support the continued improvement of raw materials and their suppliers both internally and with Orgain’s contract manufacturers. The QA Specialist also supports the Orgain QA Manager in ensuring the quality and integrity of production samples and their conformance to product specifications.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

· Maintains the supplier and raw material documentation library through Orgain’s document management system, TraceGains.

· Maintains current and up-to-date documentation for all raw materials (ingredients and primary packaging components) and their suppliers.

· Reviews updated raw material documentation for changes compared to the previously accepted versions.

· Regularly engages suppliers to ensure they provide updated documentation to Orgain QA in a timely manner.

· Works with the Orgain contract manufacturer network to ensure they have the most up-to-date raw material documentation and certifications.

· Acts as a liaison between supply chain and the suppliers for obtaining shelf-life extensions for aging and/or expired ingredients.

· Manages the finished product retained samples program, including the receipt, review, testing, logging, storage, and ultimate disposal of finished product retained samples received from contract manufacturers.

· Receives and processes sample shipments from contract manufacturers.

· Evaluates finished product samples for product quality sensory conformance and logs results into the related sensory samples log. Must be able to consume products containing the major food allergens.

· Identifies sensory reporting trends across products and contract manufacturers and reports trends to the Senior QA Manager.

· Reviews and manages raw material and finished good Certificates of Analyses.

· Assists the Sr. Contract Manufacturing Quality & Food Safety Manager in overall document control and data intake.

Requirements

EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

· BS degree with a major in a relevant scientific discipline or an equivalent combination of college education. 

· Be a critical thinker with strong technical knowledge in food safety

· 1-3 years of experience in related field 

· Strong knowledge Microsoft Office 

· Ability to meet deadlines and established goals and objectives in a fast-paced environment. 

· Strong attention to detail and accuracy in proofreading, data entry and issue spotting, and verbal/written communication skills 

· Must be able to consume products containing wheat, gluten, dairy, sesame, and other major allergens.

· Relevant experience with CPG organization in the Natural space a plus. 

· Relevant experience in food and/or dietary supplement industry a plus.

WORKING CONDITIONS

· Full time position located at Orgain’s Innovation & Support Center in Irvine, CA

· May include prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
