Oregon Health & Science University is Hiring a Remote Senior Compensation Analyst - Remote

Department Overview

Reporting to the Supervisor, Compensation, the Senior Compensation Analyst supports the development, documentation, implementation and evaluation of compensation programs for the organization to support the attraction, retention and motivation of a high quality workforce. This jobholder provides professional level assistance in the development, installation, cost analysis, and administration of compensation programs and/or incentive plans for OHSU. Partnering with business leaders, the jobholder directs administration of existing programs for assigned groups to achieve and maintain a competitive market posture and equitable internal relationships from a compensation perspective.

Function/Duties of Position

  • Consult with managers and HR Business Partners on the development of organization structures and drafting of job/position descriptions.
  • Review classification or reclassification requests from a variety of sources for compliance with program parameters, including market competitiveness and internal alignment among jobs.
  • Recommend job classification/reclassification for approval to appointing authority, as set forth in OHSU Delegation of Authority; including review for OHSU-wide jobs and coordination with labor unions on represented jobs. 
  • Serve as the compensation lead for analysis and administration of OHSU pay actions to include but not necessarily be limited to, incentive plan administration; new hire, rehire, transfer, promotion, demotion or other job pay recommendation, one-time lump sum payments, AFSCME merit recommendations, work out of classification etc for assigned groups.
  • Serve as a resource to develop pay administration skills in Service Center Specialists, Talent Acquisition Consultants HR Business Partners, and others as identified. 
  • Support the salary planning and administration process by establishing and maintaining a database of benchmark jobs that tracks and compares market movement with established OHSU total compensation programs. 
  • Annually update market performance, analyze market position develop recommendations to update compensation policies, programs and procedures.
  • Develop and implement merit processes to assure timely program recommendations and administration.
  •  Identify, analyze and recommend compensation resources to support management of all compensation activities, including but not limited to salary surveys, consultants, professional associations, seminars, and other vendor based products. 
  • Perform market based surveys and consultation as required to manage individual compensation issues.
  • To the extent acceptable by law, participate in survey conducted by others. 
  • Keeps abreast of trends in compensation management to assure timely and accurate research and development of compensation programs. 
  • Develop strategic recommendations for program introduction or modification aligned with organization operating principles and to remain market competitive.
  • Assesses department specific productivity and other business needs and develop department specific solutions, considering equity and / or labor relations issues.
  • Develop and deploy compensation training to leaders and others to assure understanding of compensation management responsibilities and to achieve effective compensation administration.
  • Assure the development of tools to assist managers and other stakeholders achieve accurate program administration, including but not limited to electronic tools to improve efficiency and education.
  • Performs special projects as assigned by the Manager or Vice President, Human Resources.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, related field; or, equivalent combination of education experience and training. 
  • Five years experience that demonstrates knowledge of compensation concepts and programs in a human resources department, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Advanced skill in Excel and Word.
  • Skill in use of human resource information systems, report writing, and Web tools.
  • Knowledge of general compensation practices.
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing with all levels of the OHSU community.
  • Ability to manage a large volume of work and meet stringent deadlines.
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without accommodation.
  • Experience that demonstrates confidence in the delivery of materials to large groups.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's in relevant field. Direct compensation experience in a healthcare environment.
