Opera Philadelphia is Hiring a Vice President of Development Near Philadelphia, PA

Opera Philadelphia is seeking a Vice President of Development to add to its senior management team. Acting as the chief development officer, this team member will ignite a culture of philanthropy with internal and external constituencies and lead efforts to develop philanthropic resources for the company to carry out its mission and maximize its impact. This is an executive leadership position with responsibility for managing advancement staff and programs including annual fund, major gift development, institutional support, planned giving, government affairs, patron relations and campaign planning.

This is an exciting time to join this spirited and entrepreneurially minded team. The company has earned a reputation of being “[a] hotbed of operatic innovation” (New York Times) and seeks to bring this inventive thinking to the role and foster its impact across arts organization in a major city.

Under the leadership of new Board Chair, Dr. Stephen Klasko and General Director David B. Devan, the company is undergoing a company-wide effort to become a national leader in using opera as a community-building tool. Board leadership and management are in the process of developing a bold vision to deliver on this goal and the VP of Development will be a critical partner in shaping that vision, as well as the architect of the fundraising plan to help realize it.

Opera Philadelphia is a Pennsylvania non-profit organization incorporated in May 1975. Since 2008, Opera Philadelphia's work has been focused on making meaningful contributions to the city of Philadelphia and the art form through a commitment to explore what opera could look like in the 21st century and how it might more closely reflect the communities that we seek to serve.

Salary range $160,000 - $175,000
