Job title: Director, Financial Planning & Analysis

Department: Finance and Legal

Reporting to: Chief Financial Officer

Location: US-East Coast preferred, UK/London optional

How you will make an impact

This role provides an opportunity to join an exciting growth company where the candidate will implement and build out the Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) function and process. FP&A is a strategic finance role that aims to partner with the rest of the business to drive growth. The role will involve working with a wide variety of departments and people in the company to manage the budget and forecast process, support and monitor acquisitions, identify risks and opportunities along with special projects. The person in this role will have significant senior executive and board exposure.The TeamThe Finance and Legal team is a highly collaborative group of 13 enthusiastic Opensignalers and growing. We are focused on building a team that provides value to our colleagues across the business, whether that’s through accurate and timely reporting, operational support or impactful analysis.

What you will do

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

1) Strategic Finance supports all strategic decisions from a finance and operational perspective and is a partner to the executive team on all major initiatives.

  • Develop financial models and analyze them to support strategic initiatives.
  • Develop and continually improve budgeting, financial projections, and operating forecasts.
  • Produce models to project long term growth and determine the impacting business factors.
  • Develop cash forecasting models including capital expenditures, acquisitions, etc.
  • Prepare currency level forecasting to support hedging program.
  • Provide M&A Support including diligence and valuation initiatives.

2) Consolidated Reporting provides reporting and visibility at the top company view. This is not just financial reporting but integrates all key kpis and helps shed light on the business. This activity will partner closely with the controller group to ensure seamless reporting and variance analysis.

  • Present the monthly and quarterly financial reports of various units and departments compared to budget, prior forecast, prior year.
  • Analyze the trends of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), especially relating to financial metrics such as sales, expenditures, and profit margin.
  • Monitor KPIs and identify the cause of any unexpected variances.
  • Support board and lender reporting.
  • Implement a business intelligence tool and dashboard reports.

3) Ad hoc projects and analyses occur often and this role will support those initiatives.

  • Support management team and the Heads of Department with data-driven analysis.
  • Ad hoc special projects.
  • Ad-hoc business performance reporting.
  • Deliver competitor analysis, market trends and associated commentary to the leadership team.
  • Prepare business cases to support new investment, strategic and other business decisions.
  • Liaise with banks to help implement hedging program.
  • Other duties as required.

Required Skills & Abilities

  • Bachelor’s degree in highly analytical discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • 5 years of FP&A experience for a growth company.
  • Prior FP&A experience within the tech or telecom sector.
  • Proficient knowledge of US GAAP, FASB ASC.
  • Strong financial modeling skills, along with understanding of financial reporting and cash flow information.
  • Exceptional analytical, quantitative, and statistical skills.
  • Strong intellect, commitment to excellence, and a passion for helping to improve the business.
  • Ability to understand market dynamics and products as it relates to the telecom industry.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, Google Suite and experience with ERP/financial systems (Netsuite desired).
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication and collaboration skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a deep belief in diversity and collaboration. 
  • Ability to act and operate independently with minimal daily direction to accomplish objectives.
  • A positive attitude, sound judgment, and top-level professionalism.
  • Must be detail-oriented and able to balance multiple responsibilities and tasks while meeting deadlines.
