Overview

Opengate is committed to establishing and maintaining a continuum of services for the developmentally disabled, which include residential, day, home, and community-based services.

The Accountant is responsible for: overseeing Opengate’s payroll processing; and assisting the CFO in administering the pension plan. Manages various projects as requested by the CFO and/or Controller that improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the department.

Responsibilities

• Prepares weekly cash flow projection. Oversees activity in Investment Reserve accounts.• Coordinates semi-annual agency-wide petty cash audits.• Liaise with external accountants for the 401(k) Retirement Plan.• Coordinates updates of department policies and procedures.• Responsible for payroll processing, including the tracking of employee garnishments. Liaise with HR to ensure accuracy of payroll information. • Reviews quarterly payroll tax / SUI returns.• Assists the CFO in the administration of the Agency’s 401(k) retirement plan, including management of open enrollment periods and participant loans.• Acts as backup for Accounts Payable Bookkeeper.• Assist in development and implementation of new procedures and features to enhance the workflow of the department.• Support CFO and Controller with special projects and workflow process improvements.• Provide Accounting and Finance training as needed and required to new and existing staff. • Performs other tasks as requested.

Qualifications

• Must have Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting. • Minimum of three years of experience in Accounting and payroll processing. • Non-profit accounting and knowledge of OPWDD/Medicaid a plus.• Expertise with Microsoft Suite, particularly Excel

• This position works a regularly scheduled 40-hour work week. It is considered to be non exempt in accordance with the Fair Labor Standards Act and is eligible for overtime pay.
