One Health is Hiring a Dental Hygienist (30 hours a week) Near Miles City, MT

A Part-Time Dental Hygienist provides oral care such as debridement, hand scaling and regular cleanings to patients and provides them with education and teaching to assist with developing and maintaining good oral health. Works with the supervising dentist to provide direct services to the identified patients. Serves as part of a consulting team with constant and effective communication to management and direct care staff regarding clinical policies and procedures. Works to advance positive patient outcomes through their duties as a primary care treatment team leader.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Delivers direct patient care to assigned patients using established dental hygienist procedures.
  2. Performs patient triage and initiates patient care as appropriate.
  3. In concert with dentist, develops and implements individualized dental care plans for patients.
  4. Assesses dental condition and needs of patient by analyzing medical records and prescribed protocol to formulate effective therapeutic treatment plans.
  5. Uses patient screening procedures to include medical history review and dental charting.
  6. Using the One Health electronic medical record, documents dental history, chief complaint of patient, and pertinent observations.
  7. Ensures compliance with the Uniform Data System (UDS) measure regarding use of dental sealants in the patient population.
  8. Performs routine treatment procedures, such as cleaning, polishing, x-rays, application of sealants and fluorides, and related procedures.
  9. Identifies suggested recall interval for patient by evaluating their current periodontal/gingival health and appropriately schedules patient.
  10. Educates patient on dental/periodontal findings/conditions and provides dental hygiene instruction.
  11. Assists with or institutes emergency measures for sudden adverse developments during treatment of patients.
  12. Sets up and prepares dental equipment and instrumentation in accordance with established regulations and guidelines.
  13. Prepares reports and assists as required with patient reception, telephone calls, routine triage, and other office duties.
  14. Performs patient education, discharge planning, and patient/family teaching under the supervision of a qualified dentist.
  15. Adheres to all One Health Policies and Procedures.
  16. Participates in performance optimization and risk management activities as required.
  17. Cooperates and abides by all elements of One Health’s Compliance Program.
  18. Provides exceptional customer service and models the mission of One Health when interacting with internal and external stakeholders promoting a positive image for the health center.
  19. Performs other duties as assigned or required with or without prior notification.

MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Certificates/Licenses:

Required

  • BLS certification upon hire
  • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree from an accredited dental hygiene program
  • Current Montana dental hygienist license
  • Valid driver’s license

WORKING CONDITIONS AND ENVIRONMENT:

  • Work indoors in heat-controlled environment 95% of the time.
  • Moderate noise level consistent with an office environment.
  • Typically, 40-hour workweek.
  • Some evening and weekend hours as needed.
  • Periodic travel to other One Health sites and within Montana as well as regional and national meetings.

Physical and sensory requirements must be met to perform the essential functions of the position.
