Located at the corner of University and Mill, Omni Tempe Hotel at ASU amplifies Tempe’s revitalized downtown area and brings some of the largest conference and meeting space to the city. The hotel features 330 guest rooms, four dining outlets, a spacious pool deck, retail, and almost 36,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor meeting space along with expansive views of the ASU campus and the Tempe cityscape. Job Description

Omni Tempe Hotel at ASU is in search of a skilled Catering Sales Manager to drive sales and manage catering functions within our expansive meeting and event space. The successful candidate will be experienced, detail-oriented, and possess excellent communication and sales skills. Our hotel offers a substantial 36,000 square feet of versatile meeting space, perfect for a range of events and functions. 

Responsibilities

  • Direct Sales and Business Development: Proactively sell to the local Catering market. Continuously update and expand client prospects through active prospecting.
  • Client Relationship Management: Regularly engage with clients through off-premises meetings, sales blitzes, and in-person tours of our facilities. Maintain relationships through trade partners and community resources.
  • Sales Funnel Management: Monitor and add to the sales funnel, ensuring a steady stream of new business and prospective clients for future bookings.
  • Proposal and Contract Management: Follow up on prospecting with comprehensive proposals outlining pricing, event space, and dates. Generate contracts and manage event bookings in line with Omni Hotels & Resorts standards.
  • Repeat Business and Referrals: Actively seek repeat convention business and referrals for follow-up by the sales team.
  • Event Coordination: Oversee all aspects of event planning and execution, including menu selection, room setup, and overall guest experience.
  • Community and Industry Engagement: Attend community shows, catering-related conferences, and other pertinent events to enhance visibility and networking.
  • Effective Communication: Ensure attentive client contact and effective communication for repeat bookings.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with culinary, banquet, and hotel staff to ensure seamless coordination and execution of events.
  • Training and Compliance: Attend company-required trainings and complete other duties as assigned by management.
  • Financial Management: Prepare and manage budgets, negotiate contracts, and ensure profitable operation of the catering department.
  • Customer Service Excellence: Provide exceptional service, responding promptly to inquiries and requests, and resolving any issues to maintain high customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree or greater preferred, or relevant experience.
  • Minimum of 3-years of catering sales experience and/or successful completion of Omni LID program. 
  • Dynamic, enthusiastic, creative seller who thrives under pressure and can perform multiple functions and troubleshoot when needed. 
  • Ability to communicate in the English language both written and verbal, with the ability to demonstrate warmth and empathy when engaging with others. 
  • Must have proven selling, negotiating and presentation skills. 
  • Highly developed customer service skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Proficient computer skills including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Power Point, Excel, and Outlook. Delphi experience preferred. 
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends and holidays.

This is an in-office position.
