The Omega Institute is Hiring a FoodWorks Utility Supervisor Near Rhinebeck, NY

NOTE: This application is for a non-residential (live off campus), seasonal staff position beginning in late-May through mid-October 2023.

Summary

Omega Foodworks is the main dining facility at Omega Institute. Each year the Foodworks team produces more than 300,000 plant-based, farm-to-table meals. All dishwashers are directly accountable to Chef Team & Dining Hall Management.

Essential Functions

Maintain the organization and cleanliness of the dish room, including the Jackson machine, the storage and drying racks, and the general infrastructure of the space.Ensure proper use of the Jackson machine, including running dishes, breaking down and cleaning the machine, running delime cycles, and maintaining consistency in the overnight breakdown of the machine. Monitor the chemical usage and report any inventory concerns to Dining Services Manager or General Manager. Maintain quality control of all dishware cleanliness (kitchen and service dishes).Maintain efficient and effective communication with all Foodworks management to ensure that department needs are being met. Working around knives and hot steam; carrying hot pansRegularly lift/carry/move heavy itemsWork in a constant state of alertness and safe mannerAssign tasks/stations to the dishwashing team while on shift.Other duties as requested by supervisor.

Physical Requirements

Ability to lift up to 30 lbs. regularly, and up to 50 lbs. occasionally Ability to stand for long periods on occasion. Ability to navigate a hilly campus in diverse weather conditions

Compensation

Non-residential seasonal staff work full-time or part-time between late-May and the mid-October. They receive a compensation package that includes:

  • Hourly wage (this varies by position and is at minimum above New York State minimum wage).
  • One delicious meal during each work shift
