Description: Highly motivated and innovative research associate with molecular biology experience to support development of Omega Bio-tek DNA & RNA purification reagents.

Responsibilities:

• Works independently or within a group to design and perform experiments to properly execute management initiatives 
• Complete projects through product launch with minimal supervision of the R&D manager 
• Utilizes literature to identify solutions to issues encountered during research, including assays not currently utilized by the R&D team 
• Develops experimental plans to properly improve or achieve desired results 
•  Supervise experimental strategy and tasks associated, with support of up to two technicians 
• Troubleshoots experimental results from laboratory technicians 
• Helps train laboratory staff 
• Properly documents laboratory tests and results 
• Plays a key role in department goals and project deadlines being met 
• Ensures that all company, industry, state, federal safety standards are being followed including OSHA, EPA, and waste management 
• Interacts with senior laboratory personnel and R&D manager to review progress and present results 
• Ensures laboratory is clean and equipment is being properly maintained 
• Developing, optimizing, and performing assays for qPCR, PCR, NGS applications 
• Revise and update SOPs, as directed by manager 
• Follow established company SOP and ISO 9001 and ISO 13485 guidelines 

Requirements:

• MS or PhD degree in life science area or equivalent experience
• 3 years post-degree molecular biology laboratory experience. 5 years with MS
• Able to obtain full face respirator certification upon hire

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with DNA & RNA extraction, PCR and qPCR. Preferred experience with Next Generation Sequencing workflows
• Solid communication, organizational, and time-managements skills
• Must demonstrate excellent organizational skills and ability to manage large amount of technical data and documentation
• Proficient with standard computer software
