POSITION OVERVIEW 
We are looking for a Prep Cook to join our production team in Maspeth. As a Prep Cook at Ole & Steen you will prepare different delicious specialties, ingredients for the cooking process, and a variety of sandwiches according to our traditional Danish recipes. 
The ideal candidate should be willing to comply with health and safety standards. You should be quick and diligent, able to follow instructions, and work in a fast-paced environment. The goal is to enhance customer satisfaction so that we can maintain and expand our clientele and you must expect to produce a high volume of products for our stores. This role is ideal for someone who is interested in learning about real Danish culture and recipes. 
RESPONSIBILITIES 
  • Assisting with the day-to-day savory production 
  • Being an inspirational, committed, and creative member to the kitchen team 
  • Following prep lists created by chefs 
  • Ensuring all food items are properly stores and easily accessible 
  • Maintain a clean, orderly, and sanitized kitchen 
  • Passionate about kitchen production, as well as classic techniques and procedures 
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS 
  • Able to speak and understand English 
  • The ability to comprehend and follow written and verbal direction 
  • The ability to work independently or as a part of a team 
  • The ability to bend, stop, stand, and perform extensive walking for an 8-hour shift 
  • Able to lift 50lbs without restrictions 
  • Adaptable in fast-paced and challenging work environment 
  • Able to work a flexible schedule, weekends, and holidays per the needs of the business 
  • Able to work morning shifts (start between 4:00 am and 7:00 am) 
  • Maintain a clean environment and keeping the area organized 
  • Thoroughly follow company procedures according to health and safety standards

Ole & Steen was founded in 1991 by the Danish bakers Ole Kristoffersen and Steen Skallebæk and originally called Lagkagehuset or “The Layer Cake House”. Ole & Steen is pioneer in the resurgence of artisanal and handcrafted baking practices in Denmark. In 2008 the two bakers joined forces and became the organization we know today. 
We have been Denmark’s favorite bakery for more than 30 years, serving delicious Danish breads, pastries, cakes, single estate coffee and food.
