Job Description: Summary: A Staff Accountant assists with the monthly accounting close process. Works closely with the Controller/Assistant Controller to prepare journal entries, account reconciliations and variance explanations. Audits the general ledger and fixed asset invoices for appropriate coding and accounting guidance treatment. May also provide management with financial information by researching and analyzing accounts. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Ensure accurate asset capitalization and classification in accordance with Company policy. Participate in the monthly close process for fixed assets, including journal entries, adjustments, and account reconciliations/roll forwards. Record fixed asset acquisitions and dispositions in the Fixed Asset System (SAGE Software). Work with the Real Estate Department in tracking the compilation of project costs into fixed asset accounts and close out those accounts once the related projects have been completed. Reconcile the balances in the fixed asset subsidiary ledger (SAGE) to the summary-level account in the general ledger (EPICOR). Assist with preparation, tracking and payment of property tax returns for both real and personal property. Assist with sales and use tax calculations, recording and payments related to fixed assets. Preparation of audit work papers for annual or ad hoc audits. Coordinate with external auditors to provide information requested regarding audit of fixed assets. Understand and comply with Sarbanes-Oxley controls. Perform special projects as requested. Complies with Company policies, procedures, regulatory requirements and complete mandatory company compliance training by prescribed deadlines. At a minimum, the ability to work from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Ability to work overtime as requested by management. Dependable, reliable, and punctual attendance is required, which may include attendance at after-hour company events. Ability to accept supervision as well as constructive feedback. Ability to collaborate and interact effectively and professionally with all levels of management, employees and customers by email, phone, video conferences and in person. Demonstrates courtesy, professionalism and is proactive and responsive to supervisor/manager, co-workers and customer needs and expectations. Other duties that may be assigned. Knowledge and Skills Required: Bachelor’s degree. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills. Knowledge of SAGE FAS preferred. Experience working in Workday preferred. Knowledge of GAAP for fixed assets regarding maintaining sub-ledgers, accumulated depreciation, disposals, and asset retirement obligations. Able to analyze and communicate changes that occur within fixed asset accounts, sub-legers, depreciation expense. Must possess the highest degree of integrity and ethical values. A self-starter with the ability to prioritize, multi-task, meet deadlines and take ownership of projects. Ability to adapt to changing business activities and departmental initiatives. Consistently able to challenge how technology can be leveraged to enhance efficiency. Ability to work well within a self-directed, team-based environment and contribute ideas. Excellent written and oral communication skills including effective listening. Physical/Mental Demands: The ability to work with confidential information. The ability to perform under pressure and be flexible with disruptions throughout the workday is required. Repetitive and continual keyboard activity and interaction with display monitors is required. Sedentary work: The majority of activity in this position involves sedentary work including sitting, standing, walking and the occasional need to lift or move objects.
