Job Title: Equipment Operator - Seasonal

Location: Fernley, NV

Department: Receiving PrepFLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Schedule: Day Shift and Night available

Wage: $20.00 per Hour $2.00 Shift Differential for Night Shift

Position Summary

Reporting to the Production Supervisor, the Equipment Operator will be responsible for ensuring that the Dry prep hopper is constantly full of product so that the wet prep area and dryers are supported.

The ideal candidate will perform duties within all safe, sanitary and good manufacturing practices.

Position Responsibilities

  • Verify and schedule the trailer movement for the unloading area.
  • Responsible for maintaining a constant supply of onions to the wet prep area by keeping the hopper full.
  • Ensure product quality through the use of effective organization skills and attention to detail.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary work environment.
  • Ensure all necessary receiving and quality documentation is complete and accurate.
  • Support all other team members in the dehydration as needed, reinforcing a team driven atmosphere.
  • Complete the weight certificate after verifying the trailer weight on the scale.
  • Complete the sample tickets in preparation for the random sampling of product and take bucket samples to the grade out shed.
  • Complete the Raw Material Receiving/Inventory checklist as required throughout the shift.
  • Ensure all equipment checks are complete and fuel levels are adequate prior to operating.
  • Report any safety issues or damaged equipment to your Lead worker.
  • Inform the Line Operator of any change in Contract number.
  • Maintain a clean work environment. This includes the RMR area, wet waste trailer area, trailer staging area and side of building nearest to the employee entrance.
  • Empty the wet waste hoppers as needed.
  • Empty the dewatering screen and clean the area prior to the end of each shift or as needed.
  • On Sanitation days: Wash/Clean the dry prep and wet prep areas. Wash the dryer coils.
  • Ensure that all tools and equipment are in their designated areas during and at the end of each shift.
  • Assist Dehy with Inspection and Sanitation as needed.
  • Report mechanical, product quality and safety issues to Supervisor or Lead promptly.
  • This position is not limited to those duties in the job description. Duties and responsibilities can be changed, expanded, reduced, or deleted to meet the business needs of the organization.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements

  • Capable of accessing and operating all equipment and machinery required of the job. (Forklift, Front End Loader, Yard Truck).
  • Successful Completion of Powered Industrial Truck Certification Training.
  • Able to bend, climb, lift, and stoop in order to perform job duties.
  • Capable of lifting 50 lbs. consistently throughout a shift.
  • Ability to stand on feet for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with co-workers and department Leads.
  • Ability to work overtime as required.
  • Ability to work in a dusty, fast paced, and noisy production line environment.
  • Ability to take direction from the department leads and work in a team driven atmosphere.
  • Understand and follow all Good Manufacturing Practices, and Safety regulations.
  • Ability to wear and use all assigned personal protective equipment (hard hat, gloves, eye protection, ear plugs and steel toe footwear/nonslip, etc.).
