Arizona is Hiring a R&D Systems Engineer II (Multiple Positions) Near Tucson, AZ
The system engineer will need to analyze, develop, and review engineering process and requirements for adaptive optics and space instruments. These requirements will need a working knowledge of system engineering and the process of DMIAC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, and Control). Must be able to use general knowledge of engineering principles and lessons learned from previous work experience to be able to evaluate, set, and verify that requirements are met. These process documents will be captured using databases such as Doors, Github, Matlab, and Python.
Interface with other engineering disciplines and scientists to gather input on low- and high-level requirements. This inter disciple collaboration will result in both capturing information and also verifying that the requirements are being met. If requirements are not being meet, then the candidate will utilize engineering methods to perform failure analysis and resolution using proper tools such as FMEA (Failure Modes and Effects Analysis) and fault tree. Knowledge and experience of engineering practices are vital in effectively ensuring requirements are being met, drafting plans to bot test, and guarantying that all risk have been mitigated.
Attend meetings to capture meeting notes in other engineering disciplines to be translated into action items, tasks, and high- and low-level requirements. In addition, the candidate will interface with external sources to use the engineering requirements collected to create RFP’s to satisfy the needs of the project for adaptive optics and space engineering projects. These will be used in drafting test plans and procedures to verify that requirements are being meet.
