Accountant II

Level II (D14B): $47,126.10 per year Full State Benefits

Minimum Qualifications:

Level II:

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a major in accounting or its equivalent number of semester hours (24) plus experience equivalent to two (2) years of full-time employment in professional accounting and disbursement work;

OR

An equivalent combination of education and experience, substituting one (1) year of full-time employment in accounting work involving the maintenance of accounting records for each year of the required education;

OR

A Master’s degree in accounting may be substituted for one (1) year only of required experience.

Job Responsibilities 

•  Monitor and maintain financial transactions for consumers in residential care for whom DDS is a Representative Payee for social security benefits.
•  Disburse funds in a timely manner to meet the individual's needs or wants.
•  Properly apply payments for room/board and money management accounts with 95% accuracy, with room/board payments completed the last week of each month and money management being paid by the 15th of each month
•  All trust accounts are monitored monthly; ensuring consumers remain within resource guidelines identified within SSI standards for eligibility.
•  Send spend-down letters/notifications to appropriate personnel when needed for 95% of individuals served.
•  Collect and report all wages and child support in a timely manner to social security for each consumer employed or receiving child support payments.
• Gather required information for SSI application, reviews, or payee changes for consumers in Specialized Foster Care when the Division is the payee representative. Application and payee changes are started/completed within 5 days. Reviews are submitted within SSI time frames.
•  Works closely with various vendors to ensure payments are made for burial policies, insurance companies, special needs trust accounts, community vendors, supports, and services; all while maintaining balance information/maximums to assure continued eligibility.
• Maintains a Specialized Foster Care spreadsheet and contract log and master lists of consumers and trust accounts. File/Scan all correspondence relating to records.
• Ability to work on a diverse team and directly with people from diverse backgrounds specifically racial, ethnic, socioeconomic, and disabilities.
