POSITION SUMMARY:

Octane Learning is a professional learning and training development agency, working exclusively for pharmaceutical, biotech, medical device, and healthcare companies. We advise on learning strategies and create the right experiences, including online study, virtual, in-person and hybrid workshops, reference resources, sales/corporate training events, and more.

We are rapidly expanding and have an opportunity for an Instructional Designer to join our team in Princeton, New Jersey.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Instructional Design

• Perform all phases of instructional design including analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation
• Conceptualize and design creative blended learning approaches for multimedia content presentation that maximize learner understanding of content and assess grasp of content
• Create project specifications and wireframes to guide the technology team
• Create eLearning scripts, storyboards, and PPT slides using solid instructional design methodology and adult learning theory
• Drive content presentation and interactivity decisions and assess content design approaches based on project and technical requirements
• Collaborate with subject-matter experts and development leads to ensure that program content, learning objectives, and delivery modes meet stated client specifications, while meeting appropriate cost-beneficial media format, structure, and design needs

Collaborate with Internal and External Stakeholder

• Work with internal team on projects in the area of compliance, regulatory or policies and procedures. Our clients are pharmaceutical, medical device, or biotech industries.
• Exhibit strong communication skills, initiative, and independence
• Be proactive in requesting clarification on any unclear direction or request
• Work closely with project managers and developers to ensure content is delivered on time and within specified parameters
• Communicate with clients to understand their content presentation and delivery requirements and take initiative to clarify issues
• Work with clients to write and/or facilitate the writing of content that meets training objectives
• Review the work of other instructional designers (internal/external) and assess it for structure, accuracy, flow, and appropriateness
• Our content is delivered in PowerPoint, interactive PDF, or Word for Instructor-Led Training (ILT) and Virtual Instructor-Led Training (VILT) delivery or via tools such as Articulate 360 for eLearning.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Preferably Bachelor's in English, Instructional Design, Adult Education, or related field required (Master's preferred) and familiarity with current research on instruction and adult learning
• 2 years experience in writing content or designing and developing diverse instructional content/products, preferably in an e-learning environment
• Proven ability to establish objectives, identify problems, analyze data, and creatively deliver solutions
• Understanding of cognitive learning theory and instructional technology
• Strong attention to detail is an absolute must
• Ability to motivate people and gain consensus on design vision
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to translate analysis and complex technical content into practical learning solutions
• Basic technology skills, including familiarity with Web development tools (eg, HTML5, Dreamweaver, Articulate, and XML) and mobile technology
