Proactively ensure the highest levels of systems and availability; monitor and test application performance for potential bottlenecks, identify possible solutions and work with developers to implement those fixes. Maintain security, backup and redundancy strategies. Work within a horizontal management structure and an agile team environment to lead small project-based software teams; take responsibility for assigned technical software deliverables. Identify and respond to critical design aspects. Collaborate with a team of multi-disciplined engineers to develop and test those concepts. Provide program management, including oversight for internal and external project and design reviews, project execution schedule-monitoring, prepare client deliverable reports, interface with clients for requirements and project definition and special requirements, ensure that contract deliverables are met and ensure that management are briefed and aware of critical issues. Bring market and competitor knowledge to help craft technical and programmatic win strategies. Provide technical expertise, knowledge, pursuit strategy, and business opportunities. Identify needs and business opportunities with clients, educate customers on system attributes and identify research grant opportunities and act as capture management to win the grants. Develop innovative algorithms to solve novel problems using standard tools for configuration management, issue tracking, etc. Document software APIs and user interfaces. Produce clean, elegant, maintainable and extensible code. Troubleshoot, test, and analyze problems and determine solutions. THE EXPERTISE WE’RE LOOKING FOR: Experience in one or more of the following areas: aerospace engineering, image processing, natural language processing, cyber security, scientific data analysis, artificial intelligence, machine learning, user interface design, instrument control, agent-based systems Expertise in designing, modifying, debugging and testing software using Java, C , Python, or other programming languages under Linux, Windows, MacOS, or other operating systems. Degree in an appropriate technology field Experience writing innovative and competitive proposals to obtain funding Thrives in learning environment with superior problem-solving and communication skills. Must be eligible for DoD clearance requiring background investigation.
