Responsibilities The position of Vice President is within the Expense Management & Analysis sub-department of the Fund Accounting & Operations department. This resource will lead the effort to improve overall operations and help drive significant change in the firm’s expense management and reporting capabilities. This individual will have an immediate impact on productivity by streamlining strategic initiatives, overseeing program management, and communicating objectives. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated proven success in a business management role, with a special focus on executive-level advising and interdepartmental collaboration. Typical responsibilities include: Oversee strategic initiatives, from design and development through successful execution Standardization of firm wide-expense coding and GL postings Simplification of complex fund allocation and reimbursement processes Concise, real-time data reporting of corporate and fund expenses Lead toward a procure to pay operation Serve as a trusted advisor to and second for Head of Expense Management & Analysis Keep Head of Expense Management very well apprised of team’s achievements, challenges, steps to resolve, progress on priorities to allow for informed in-field decision making and strategizing Help design long term strategic forecast for Expense Management & Analysis and roadmap to execute Assist officers in decision-making, program management, and initiative implementation Liaise with staff, officers regarding departmental climate, employee well-being, project updates, proposals, and planning Serve as a subject-matter expert, handling inquiries, developing action plans, and assisting with preparation and dissemination of materials and updated process documentation Review and execute improvements to organizational structure; find knowledge and skills gaps and help address Optimize onshore and offshore operational structure for efficiency and productivity Develop and maintain KPIs Document and perform Quality Control reviews of Expense Management & Analysis policies & procedures Work closely with leadership and resources within the team to continuously improve process and data quality standards within the group. Act as key point of contact for partners and Stakeholders Work collaboratively with partners to establish and maintain SLAs between groups: Fund Accounting, Corporate Accounting, Corporate Finance, Tax & Treasury, Cash Management, IT Qualifications 7 - 10 years management experience, preferably in Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable or Accounting within the financial services industry, and preferably in the investment management industry. Experience in “Big 4” type organizations (or comparable), in consulting or audit Track record in business analysis and process improvement Solid analytical skills and ability to understand and resolve complex problems Experience with large sets of data Expertise in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Visio Personal Attributes Relationship Building: works effectively with strong, diverse teams of people with multiple perspectives, talents, and backgrounds. He or she is known for doing what is best and is comfortable with consensus building (at multiple levels) and soliciting constructive feedback; ability to elicit cooperation from a wide variety of participants including upper management, clients, other departments, and 3rd party providers. Communication: strong interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills; ability to present complex material. Independence & Collaboration: experience at working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment; must be able to drive work effectively with limited supervision (at times) while representing department and executive management interests and concerns. Work Ethic: focus on continual development, performance, accountability, and self-motivation. Flexibility & Organization: adapt to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities; proven ability to multi-task and efficiently manage time across competing activities/resources; able to effectively prioritize, execute tasks, and thrive in a high-pressure fast paced environment. Intellectual Curiosity: energized by learning new things and engaging across a wide range of issues; must have strong problem-solving skills; adept at conducting research into project-related issues and products; displays a technical aptitude that lends itself to learning and mastering new technologies. Driving Results: sets aggressive timelines and objectives to drive results, conveys a sense of urgency, and drives issues to closure; is a self-starter committed to achieving results and has a strong sense of ownership and follow-through. Judgment: makes recommendations and decisions that balance a variety of factors. Education Bachelor’s degree required.
