The Emergency Management Coordinator (EMC) ensures the mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery phases of the Emergency Management program are integrated throughout the organization and within the larger community response network to further ensure the safe operations of the organization during an emergency event or incident. Coordinates education and exercises within the organization, across disciplines and departments, to ensure an organized response during a disaster. Ensures emergency management policies and procedures comply with regulatory standards including JC and CMS. Under the direction of the Incident Commander, provides 24/7 oversight of incident and event response and insures all documentation is complete according to regional and regulatory guidelines.
MINIMUM EDUCATION:
High School Diploma or GED required. Bachelor’s degree in Emergency Management or related field preferred, or graduate of an accredited EMT program.
MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE:
2-3 years of experience in health-care related field to include emergency preparedness, safety and/or regulatory compliance required. Prior experience in program management preferred.
REQUIRED LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:
Valid Texas Driver’s License as travel between sites is required. Certification in Emergency Management/Preparedness preferred. Completion of Incident Command System (ICS) 100, 200, 700, 800, 300, and 400 within 1 year from date of hire.
REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES:
• Analytical skills necessary in order to evaluate and makerecommendations regarding emergency management issues.
• Ability to design lesson plans, coordinate courses, and assist/conduct realistic simulated training.
• Ability to articulate complex concepts both orally and in writing.This may include various public speaking events.
• Familiarity with healthcare emergency preparedness, includingsecurity, safety, HAZMAT, OSHA, NIMS, HICS, HVA, CMS, andhospital accreditation body (e.g., JC) related criteria.
• Familiarity with Hospital Preparedness Program capabilities andunderstand healthcare coalition activities/ regional response activities.
