Job Description

We have offices in Dallas, Las Vegas, Seattle, Charlotte, Washington D.C., and throughout California, serving a broad range of markets: Federal Government, Infrastructure, Energy, Education, Hospitality, Healthcare, and Commercial/Retail. We are growing and currently have an immediate full-time, long-term opportunity for a dynamic, success driven Planner to join our team in San Diego, CA. In this role, you will provide highly responsive planner services in one of the firm’s core business lines. The Planner’s responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Compile and complete required documents, and presentations for schematic design approval of capital projects, including project descriptions, project budget, and other required documents
  • Updates to campus master plan, including minor master plan revisions, to be submitted alongside schematic design approval documents
  • Complete required forms for annual revisions and updates to the capital outlay plan
  • Compile updates for the campus Space and Facilities Database, submitted annually, accounting for any space changes from capital projects (additions, renovations). Also included in the submittal are private use reporting updates and requests for custodial funding for new/renovated buildings
  • Assist consultants in CEQA analysis for new projects, as required
  • Meet bi-weekly with campus planners to hear updates and review questions
  • Weekly meetings with AVP and Director of Construction to review planning-related questions/issues
  • Make periodic updates to the campus Facilities Information System database
  • Sit on committee meetings with other campus partners
  • Other duties/research projects as assigned by AVP

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years of planning experience
  • Prior Higher Education project experience a huge plus! 
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
  • Solid understanding of planning principles and techniques
  • Ability to understand and accurately interpret construction documents (drawings, specifications, contracts/general conditions) at all levels of design
  • Strong computer literacy and knowledge of computer information systems
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture required; or any degree with construction/design-related experience preferred
