What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Director, Special Events position at NYU?

NYU's Stern School of Business has an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Director in the Office of Special Events. The Assistant Director will plan, develop and manage all aspects of School-wide special events, programs, conferences, etc. They will ensure logistics are prepared, including security arrangements, facility selection and reservation, menu planning, catering orders, preparation of briefings, seating arrangements, transportation arrangements, organization of event materials, and audio/visual equipment. The Assistant Director will act as a liaison between the Special Events Department and other Stern Departments, Centers, and Program Areas. They will conceptualize themes, research requests, assess feasibility, make recommendations, and execute events. Similarly, they will ensure that events meet strategic goals of the School, evaluate success of events, and share that knowledge with other members of the team.


The successful candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree and 3 years experience planning and implementing special events or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience with Google Suite, strong customer service skills, the ability to solve problems in real time and the ability to juggle numerous demands in the moment are required. Creativity, the ability to develop new ideas for clients that reinforce strategic priorities for the School, excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, as well as demonstrated project management skills and attention to detail are also required. Experience with Event Management System (EMS) is preferred.


In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $58,500 - $85,000.
