Job Description The New York Times Editing Center, a 40-person editing and production operation that has transitioned to a virtual workplace, is looking for an experienced photo editor for a temporary position assigned to New York Times Syndicate products. The Times, named one of LinkedIn's top 25 U.S. companies for career growth in the industry, remains a trusted standard for millions of readers and hundreds of clients around the world. Being able to take the tasks seriously without taking yourself too seriously would separate the top contenders. Responsibilities: Select and edit New York Times photos for a global audience, while adhering to Times standards. Work closely with Syndicate editors in New York. Work effectively across all Syndicate products, with a clear knowledge of writing and editing styles for each. Qualifications: At least 1 years' experience (preferably at least 3) as an editor for a professional publication, wire service or news syndicate. Bachelor’s degree in journalism or a related subject. Deep understanding of and curiosity about world events and how The Times covers them. Ability to work on multiple projects, on multiple deadlines, with clarity and consistency. Comfort with technology and operating on multiple content management systems. Meticulous attention to detail. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal. The Editing Center, which incorporates The New York Times News Service, delivering content around the clock for hundreds of domestic and international clients, and producing dozens of publications, including The New York Times International Weekly, is built on teamwork. Successful candidates must be open -- and willing -- to seek out constructive feedback from multiple sources in a position with high expectations and responsibility.
