NVNA and Hospice is Hiring a Medical Records Coordinator Near Norwell, MA

We are looking for a full-time Medical Records Coordinator. Responsible for compiling, processing and maintaining agency electronic patient medical records, processing medical records requests, retrieving physician signed documentation and orders and maintaining physician database.

Functions of the Medical Records Coordinator are:

  1. Enters all pertinent patient information into the patient medical record including but not limited to patient signed documents, clinical orders, facility and MD information.
  2. Sends out, retrieves and enters all patient orders into the medical record.
  3. Tracks missing items and ensures the medical record is complete and in compliance with laws and regulations.
  4. Under the direction of the VP, Performance Improvement and Compliance, compiles, copies and sends all pertinent information to support any third-party request for information such as third party payers and legal requests.
  5. Oversees the HIPAA compliant destruction of agency documents.
  6. Verify physicians NPI numbers, licensure and PECOS status and enters into electronic medical record.
  7. Sends out and retrieves patient information as requested to support patient care and coding.
  8. Maintains excellent customer relationships with both external and internal customers.
  9. Consults supervisor, team members and appropriate resources to solve health information questions.
  10. Assures Agency compliance with all federal and state laws including HIPAA as well as adhering to the Norwell Visiting Nurse Association, Inc. Corporate Compliance policy in the prevention of fraud and abuse on behalf of the Agency.
  11. Other agency-related responsibilities as assigned.

Skills and Abilities:

    • Able to read and write English
    • Ability to understand medical/surgical terminology
    • Knowledge of general office equipment (copiers, fax machines, etc.)
    • MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Adobe) proficiency
    • Organized, detail-oriented, process oriented
    • Excellent internal and external customer service
    • Active, engaged learner
    • Ability to work effectively within role independently and with other team members.

Education:

  • High School equivalent. Associate degree and /or certificate program preferred

Experience:

  • Minimum of one year of office (clerical) related experience
  • Medical office experience highly preferred
