We are seeking a Systems Engineer IV who will apply theory, analytical acumen, and hands-on experimental competencies to address key technical challenges and progress product development. Responsibilities include leading mathematical modeling, programming, engineering analysis, prototyping, testing, control logic definition, troubleshooting, and performance/longevity optimization, from components and subsystems to fully integrated systems. Essential Job Responsibilities: Leads the generation of detailed product specifications, addressing technical requirements. Interface with other VOC business functions (e.g. applications, sales) to ensure robustness of requirements, design intent documentation, completeness of documentation/design. Designing conceptual process layouts and system topologies to achieve system requirements. Produces prototype subsystem designs. Responsible for the generation and maintenance of Systems Development models/simulations. Responsible for toolsets that accelerate system development and justify requirements flow-down to lower levels of system abstraction. Accountable for the performance, quality and vaulting of design verification methodologies/documentation. Applies LEAN principles to improve products and close dev. logs, setting example for junior engineers. Applies leadership and competency in difficult situations with little to no guidance. Creates new methods for planning, and carrying out program objectives. Organizes and leads cross-divisional work group in developing creative solutions to address problems. Contributes to projects by influencing other by communication and presenting data. Mentor teams of junior engineers and technicians Required Job Qualifications (unless otherwise noted): Educational Background BS/MS in Mechanical, Chemical, Controls, or Electrical Engineering Previous Work Experience 10 years product development experience Experience with common fluidic, thermal, plumbing, controls logic, and electrical components Experience with product development practices Special Skills, Experience and Abilities Advanced knowledge of fuel cell technology Process simulation aptitudes Ability to create mathematical models and exercise them in parametric studies Control Logic documentation standards Instrumentation and data acquisition systems and protocols High level of troubleshooting acumen and relentless pursuit of root causes. Technical creativity, cost-consciousness, and design capabilities. Understanding of functional safety in automotive and industrial environments. Strong written and oral communication skills; Excellent interpersonal, problem solving and organizational skills. Physical requirements/Work environment Office as well as R&D lab work environments. Use of basic hand tools. Approximately 80% in office environment, 20% of time spent in lab or on site. Travel Required Up to 10% domestic and/or international travel may be required.
