Description

Shifts: 7am-7pm, 7pm-7am, 12pm-12am, 12am-12pm

Overall Responsibilities

· Observing and assessing the patient’s clinical condition, recognizing, identifying, and interpreting serious situations and immediately deciding and taking appropriate action.

· Formulating a nursing diagnosis.

· Developing a plan of care for individual patients by interviewing patients and family members, reviewing the patient’s health record, and determining the kind of health and physical care required, including discharge planning.

· Initiating appropriate measures in emergency situations when physician is not immediately available.

· Operating and monitoring general and specialized nursing equipment utilized in their respective departments; Ambulatory Care, Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Emergency Room (ER), General Medical Surgical (Med/Surg), and Obstetrical (OB) Department.

· Administering therapeutic measures and medications as prescribed by the physician.

· Planning, providing and documenting the teaching of patients and families in preventive, curative and rehab measures.

· Recording observations, nursing interventions, therapeutic measure administered and the status of coordinated activities between nursing and other professional disciplines.

· Nurses possessing the proper education and training may administer respiratory treatments.

· Age specific competencies will be completed.

· Occupation Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) mandatory in-services will be completed.

· Indian Health Service required training

· All nurses shall report to the assigned department prior to work and report off at the end of their assigned shift.

· All nurses shall complete all medical records documentation and will be provided with the information necessary to complete the medical records prior to working as required by the hospital policy and procedures. Nurses may be required to utilize the Electronic Health Records system.

· Nurses shall complete orientation & competencies; this documentation will be submitted to Chief Nurse Executive and/or designee prior to scheduling a shift.

· Proper and adequate services for patient care shall be in accordance with standard of nursing practices and shall be equal in quality to services normally performed for the general public in a Joint Commission Accreditation for Healthcare Organization accredited facility.

· Ability to speak, understand, ready and write English fluently.

· Nurses shall read, understand, speak, and write English to effectively communicate with patients and other health care workers, and shall be respectful of the local, American Indian and Alaska Native culture.

· Nurses shall have proficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to use a computer.

Requirements

Professional Qualifications:

· Nurses shall have a minimum of an associate degree in Nursing.

· A minimum of twelve (12) months relevant experience within the last twenty-three (23) months is preferred.

· All nurses shall possess a current, valid, unrestricted nursing license within the Continental United States throughout the term of this contract.

· Nurse Specialty Board Certification is preferred for each appropriate duty section at the time of employment and throughout the term of this contract.

· Nurses shall possess a valid state driver’s license throughout the duration of this contract.

· Nurses shall have the physical ability to perform assigned tasks, are able to lift fifty (50) pounds and are able to stand and walk for extended periods of time.

· Nurses shall also provide the following immunization documentation (vaccinations are to be complete prior to assignment and will not be administered by the Government):

o Immunity to Rubella, Mumps, Measles

o Influenza vaccine (Annually)

o Immunity to Hepatitis A and B (A signed delineation of the Hepatitis B vaccination series will be accepted)

o History of chicken pox disease or positive titer

o Tetanus Diphtheria (Td) within the last 5 years

o Documentation of receiving a TB skin test (PPD) within the past 12 months with documentation of follow-up for a positive test.

o COVID-19 Vaccine

Additional Requirements: In addition to the above-mentioned professional qualifications registered nurses assigned to each specialized department listed below shall meet the following additional certifications and requirements.

Intensive Care Unit Nursing Certifications/Duties and Responsibilities:

· Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Advanced Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Basic Dysrhythmia and/or 12 lead EKG interpretation with certificate are mandatory for Intensive Care Unit duty section. Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) complete or in progress.

· Certification as a Critical Care RN (CCRN) complete or in progress.

· Minimum 3 years’ experience as an RN required with 4-5 year’s experience preferred, within at least 23 months and required minimum of 2 years of tertiary ICU experience

· Develop, implement, evaluate and revise patient care plans to meet the needs of assigned patients in the Intensive Care Unit.

· Provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served by applying growth and development principles to assess and interpret data about the patient's status in order to identify patient needs and provide the care needed.

· Operate, monitor and interpret results for general medical and critical care equipment such as infusion pumps, ventilators and other respiratory equipment.

· Monitor and/or administer therapy to a cardiac, respiratory compromised or hemodynamically unstable patient.

· Professional knowledge of nursing care principles, procedures, ethics, practices and processes required to assess nursing needs of assigned patients in the Intensive Care Unit.

· Responsible and accountable for prescribing, delegating, and coordinating nursing care of patients receiving care in the ambulatory care setting.

· Recognizes and determines proper action for medical emergencies.

· Provides highly specialized patient care in a difficult specialty area, such as intensive care or critical care, etc.
