What you will be doing

We are seeking an Engineering Director who will work closely with and support your colleagues in the global engineering leadership team to drive the end-to-end software development cycle. As the leader of the Australian Engineering team, the role is responsible for architecture, software development, quality, capacity planning and estimation along with people leadership.

The Australian engineering team looks after three major products: Nuix Engine, Nuix Workstation, Cloud Licensing Server and Nuix Automation. The Nuix Engine is a powerful, proprietary, data processing engine which processes data to the forensic level. Cloud Licensing Server allows for real-time licensing and telemetry data. Nuix Automation provides workflow-based ingestion and post processing capabilities to streamline and automate the process of data ingestion and processing. Nuix Engine and Nuix Automation also form key components of a newer stream of work in our cloud platform SaaS product, which integrates and unifies our products in a modern AWS environment utilising EKS and highly dynamic infrastructure.

• Manage multiple development teams and people leaders
• Provide leadership to the development of engineering processes including coding standards, technical documentation standards, QA processes, build, and configuration management. Ensure that such practices and other official Nuix Engineering processes are followed.
• Help set the vision for an environment of ingenuity and creativity and act as a role model for others by challenging the status quo to encourage innovation.
• Work closely with the Nuix Product Management team members to help shape and size product enhancements. This includes in-depth development review of other areas which can influence the environment (e.g. infrastructure-related equipment, systems processes, support management etc.).
• Provide accurate updates to Nuix Executive Management on the status of high visibility initiatives.
• Provide input towards the Nuix Software Architecture and help drive the overall successful evolution of Nuix Software to better meet our customers' needs.
• Manage the team's software solutions and delivery per agreed timelines.
• Monitor technology trends such as emerging processes, standards for new technology that may create opportunities for Nuix.
• Develop career and training plans for all members of your team.

Who you are

• IT experience with successful track record and demonstrated thought-leadership and cross functional influence and partnership.
• Familiar with cutting edge industry trends, including cloud environments, and thorough understanding of development methodologies and standards.
• Software Engineering team management which may include the management of multi-engineering teams as required.
• Excellent learning agility.
• Strong ownership, initiative and ability to work independently with limited direction.
• Comfortable with public speaking and presenting in front small groups.
• Highly developed written and verbal communication skills.
• Proven ability to collaborate and communicate effectively in a matrixed environment and across multiple time-zones.
