The Program Director is responsible for leading cross functional teams through the development and/or implementation of a new product innovation and/or other initiatives focused on building profitable growth within the CPS program line. The Director serves as subject matter expert, developing of new products or CW initiatives, making actionable recommendations, and executing on those recommendations while providing franchise underwriting guideline recommendations.

The Program Director is accountable for implementing complex adaptations of country wide initiatives and conducting other analyses supporting the strategic direction across all underwriting segments. Potential involvement in product line/distribution channel production and profit planning may be needed. Managing and providing UW segment views, other analyses, and results of country wide initiatives to Executive Director, COO, President, and CEO will be critical in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the Product SME for overall product related guidance and completes topical reviews and similar work for complex countrywide programs independently.
  • Lead extremely complex analysis.
  • Direct Product Analysts in the building of new tools (spreadsheets, modeling tools, databases, reporting and other templates).
  • Manage moderate to high complexity multi-function projects, often including managing / influencing the work of others. Occasionally sponsor projects.
  • Use information gathered from analysis and research, providing franchise tactical and strategic recommendations on a countrywide basis for assigned lines of business.
  • Recommend process improvements, new products, profit, and growth improvement actions for assigned lines of business.
  • Regularly present research, recommendations, and initiatives (occasionally to Executive Director and other Sr. Leadership).
  • Monitor, analyze and report on competitor activity.
  • Direct Product Analysts on competitive research activities.
  • Direct Product Analysts in the review of industry publications and news articles.
  • Provide summaries of industry and competitive information to Product leadership, Executive Director and other Sr. leadership.
  • Utilize research to determine tactical and occasionally strategic direction for assigned lines of business or distribution channels.
  • Occasionally seek out opportunities to guide or teach the broader team.
  • Actively mentor analysts through complex analysis, drawing of conclusions and development of recommendations.
  • Jurisdictional issues: NC Recoupment, MCCA, etc.
  • Industry expertise in commercial insurance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree or other insurance designations beneficial.
  • Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Must have good planning, organization, analytical, decision-making and communication skills.
  • 7 years’ experience directly managing others.
  • Excellent analytic, quantitative, and problem-solving skills with proven ability to make and execute data driven decisions.
  • Advanced knowledge of product offerings, business processes, product line systems, underwriting rules, pricing plans and databases.
  • Strong understanding of insurance concepts (coverage’s, filings, commercial auto rating, pricing model, ISO, etc.).
  • Must have good planning, organizational, analytical, decision-making and communication skills.
  • Project Management experience.
  • Highly motivated and results oriented.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and presentation skills; ability to effectively interact with all levels of Company’s internal and external business partners.
