Staff Accountant

The Novelis North America (NNA) team is seeking a Staff Accountant. The person in this role is responsible for accurate month end close process including the preparation of month end journal entries, account reconciliations and variance analysis; as well as various other accounting related projects as needed.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

Responsibilities

• General accounting responsibilities include general ledger posting, account reconciliations, and tax preparation.
• Monthly sales and use tax report preparation.
• Accurate and timely record additions and capitalizations out of CIP.
• Leads periodic physical inventory counts of fixed assets.
• Responsible for the accurate identification, accounting, and reporting of fixed assets.
• Tracks company expenditures for fixed assets in comparison to the capital budget and management authorizations.
• Forecasts timing of capital spend throughout the fiscal year.
• Lead and organize yearly metal physical inventory count. Reconcile count to book balance.
• Generate month end labor reports, process quarterly gainsharing, and reconcile payroll for all hourly employees.
• Maintain cost records, systems, and machine hour rates for product costing to ensure correct cost information.
• Reviews all expense coding, report generation, and assists hourly employees where necessary to resolve PO receipt issues.
• Perform other special projects as the Controllership needs

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
• Minimum 2-5 years of Accounting or Finance experience
• Proficiency in Kronos Payroll, SAP preferred
• Advanced skills in Excel
• Ability to handle a myriad of functions under tight deadlines
• Ability to handle sensitive information in a confidential manner

Location Profile

Novelis’ Terre Haute facility is located in the center of the Wabash Valley about an hour drive from Indianapolis. The region is named for the nearby Wabash River. The facility’s 150 employees produce world-class light gauge aluminum that is used in the production of aluminum foil containers and industrial fin products.
