Novelis North America HQ is Hiring a Human Resource Business Partner Near Bay Minette, AL

Position Overview

Novelis is the world leader in aluminum rolling and recycling, producing an estimated 19 percent of the world's flat-rolled aluminum products. We work alongside our customers to provide innovative solutions to the aerospace, beverage can, automotive and high-end specialty markets.

Headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, USA, Novelis has approximately 11,600 employees in 33 operating facilities on four continents and is investing $2.5 billion to build a new low-carbon recycling and rolling plant in Bay Minette, Alabama. The highly sophisticated facility will serve growing demand for aluminum beverage can sheet in North America. The new facility will also serve the automotive market, where aluminum is the fastest growing material as automakers make plans to achieve their sustainability goals. It will aim to be net carbon neutral for Scope 1 and 2, be powered primarily by renewable energy, use recycled water and be a zero-waste facility.

Summary:

Our Bay Minette, AL location is hiring 2 HR Business Partners. These roles are responsible for providing human resources solutions to meet business needs, including promoting the implementation of company culture, recruiting suitable talent, up leveling employee skills, succession and organizational planning, maintaining and improving employee engagement and more. These roles report to the Director of HR, Capital Projects.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

Job Description:

  • Promoting safe working habits and attitudes and good housekeeping practices in the department to help minimize accidents and maintain good employee morale and health
  • Partnering with the plant team to the company’s culture, including Purpose, Culture Belief, Inclusion Diversity
  • Coaching and counseling of leadership and team members on conflict issues, and growth and development opportunities, including driving and implementing training and development projects
  • Collaborating with the HR Director on the plant HR strategy consistent with corporate and regional HR strategies across the business
  • Establishing self-led teams in the plant – both structurally and culturally such that all employees have an ownership attitude
  • Ensuring that all the major HR systems, policies, and programs run efficiently, effectively, and in alignment with the strategic needs of the plant
  • Facilitating the performance and talent management processes for employees within specific manufacturing units

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 3-8 years’ experience working in Human Resources within a manufacturing environment required
  • Community relations experience
  • Previous experience building self-driven, accountable teams
  • Proven leadership, change management and decision-making skills
  • Strong business partner proficiencies – communication, financial understanding, confidentiality, and project management
  • Exhibits high levels of empathy

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master of Human Resources or MBA
  • Previous experience with a greenfield, brownfield sites or new acquisition integration
  • Professional coaching certification with 2 years’ practical experience

Location Profile

Novelis’ newly announced Bay Minette facility will be located 35 miles northeast of Mobile, AL and 45 miles west of Pensacola, FL and is expected to create approximately 1000 high-paying, advanced careers in modern manufacturing and become fully operational in 2025. This highly advanced rolling and recycling facility will be the first of its kind. It will primarily serve our customers in the beverage can and automotive markets. Novelis is committed to the community and will actively build partnerships in Baldwin County focused on recycling, STEM education and workforce development.
